Ours will be a Friday evening wedding. It starts at 7 pm. But we are just having a short, simple reception afterwards and a huge pig roast the next day!

I considered it, but since a large number of our guests are going to be traveling, we realized it would be more reasonable to have it on Saturday.  If your guests have to travel more than 2 hours on average, I would say no.  If it’s fewer than two, I’d go for it.

If it is within 2 hours of where I live, I’d totally be down.

One of my BMs is doing a Friday and I’m doing a Sunday I know both will cause problems for travelers; however since this is our day I figure those who can will make it and those who cannot I fully understand.

it’s part of the reason i planned to send wedding announcements instead of invites to a lot of extended family they live 10+ hours a way and flying/driving for most of them won’t be an option cost wise.

Love Friday night weddings get an extra day to recover & get to start the weekend early. We are having a Friday night wedding. Our furthest guest would be traveling 40minutes. So really no inconvenience.

As a guest I have no problem with a Friday wedding, but the last one we went to, we were nearly late due to rush hour traffic (another couple was late and opted to wait outside so as not to disturb the ceremony) so you might want to take that into consideration, especially if your location is downtown or in a busy area.

@dancindavinci:  ours will be a friday evening wedding ๐Ÿ™‚ a kind of late one too as it’s in France. so far nobody has complained about it being on a friday, i think for some it’s even preferable as the have more time to travel/recover afterwards, like PPs have mentioned.

If all my guests were in town, then yes. But since even I am traveling for my wedding, no. ๐Ÿ™‚

@peonia:  yeah, I guess it breaks down into two categories: weddings that are “in town” or destination weddings. if it’s somewhere in between, it could get messy for people.
