I voted that 8/11 is fine for programs. And yes people do toss it. (You will probably be the only one who will keep it for memory.)

You can just add some more designs on it if you want. Sort of like in the background. And maybe finish it off by wrapping it in a nice ribbon or attaching the ribbon somewhere. Or sticking some artsy jewels on the front, etc. That will give that ‘oomph’ factor. No need to go all out!

Seems fine to me.  You can fold the paper in half to get the booklet look if you want.

Roll it up. Tie it with a ribbon and call it a day! They’re looked at for 10 minutes while guests sit and then thrown away.

I think your idea sounds lovely! I personally would NEVER judge someone’s programs…as @lola2011 said, they’re used for 10 min. and then tossed!

I think the better option is to not have programs.  They aren’t necessary.  If you do have to have them, this is a perfectly acceptable way to do them.  You could edge them with special scissors or a martha stewart punch to give them an extra something.

i think 8.5 by 11 is fine.  i used that size and made them into tri-folds for our programs.

I think rolling it up with a ribbon would look nice so it would be easier to hand out or even tri folding the paper into a pamphlet would make it seem a little more sophisticated and make breaking up the information into ceremony, wedding party, etc. easier.

I don’t see anything wrong with using that paper. It sounds lovely!

Plus, there is an added benefit to using 8.5×11 paper. You can make the print a little larger, which will be easier for your guests to read, especially grandma who refuses to get a new pair of glasses! LOL!

@heather25: I concur. I don’t think anyone would miss having programs.

I agree with the PPs that said roll it up and tie it with a ribbon.  You could use red ribbon to match the roses.  It would give them a little something extra with out breaking your budget.  Now would be a great time to get ribbon to, you could probably find a bunch on sale in the Christmas aisle of a craft store.
