tigergrrl2008:  I completely agree!

The fact that this is the photographer’s style means that you are basically hiring this professional to not do exactly what it is that they are known for doing. Save yourself the potential frustration down the road and find something that is a complete package of what you want.

petalpetal:  Hire a photographer you love 100%. It’s generally considered offensive to ask a photographer to change how they do things. The whole “customer is always right” doesn’t really translate in the arts. 😉 Like other’s mentioned, not only would asking that flag you as a potential problem client, why would you want someone to change how they do things when it’s not how they naturally do it? I can promise you, you won’t get the result you’re looking for.

I hate to say it but as a photographer I would be offended. Why ask me to change my style if you could find someone who does it exactly as you would like? Either way I think his shots are very pretty and i don’t mind the HDR editing.

If you don’t like his photos, maybe you should have chosen a different photographer. There’s got to be someone out there with indoor and outdoor photos you love.

I’d probably decline to shoot your wedding and refer you elsewhere. Those are two totally different things and you can’t assume him all of the sudden changing his style is that easy. I am mainly a natural light life photographer so if someone comes to me wanting a family session but heavily edited ( think color selection) and super posed I’d pass because that’s just not what I do. I am not good at it and it’s not my style so I would not feel comfortable attemtping it and plus my style and body of work should be consistent.

I wouldn’t be butthurt if you did what you suggested but I think most would be and I’d not advise you to send someone else’s work and ask your photographer to “copy” the style. Even if they CAN do it they probably will not want to and it’s rude to ask. Find someone you LOVE 100%.
