stardustintheeyes:  I think you are doing the right thing.  Like you said that baby did nothing wrong and you should teach your son right from wrong.  Teach him to love and not be resentful.  Don’t let you mom question your decision.  He is your son and you should do what is best for him.

stardustintheeyes:  It seems like you’re going to do what you want to do, so best of luck with the present giving. I do find it interesting that the majority of people who have lived in this situation would not give the gift though, myself included. I grew up in a similar situation to your son and I feel like my mother butting into my half-siblings’ lives would have been weird. I feel like that was my father’s job to address with me. That said, if you’re going to be discussing this with the father first, so that he can acknowledge the sibling with your son, that might not be so bad.
