I wouldn’t get a ring tattoo because:
1. We could break up… I know no one likes to admit it, but it happens.
2. I’m just not a tattoo kinda gal!
3. I’m not crazy about how it looks.

My Fiance did not get down on one knee and open a little black box with a big diamond inside. Instead we dediced we are going to get matching tattoos at the next tattoo convention
(Just 95 short days away!).We are madly in love, and want something that has a much deeper meaning than a piece of jewlery. Of course, we want to exchagne rings at a later date, however this just feels right to us. My Fiance is a chef and has an unbridled passion for food. I am just as obsessed with food as he is – I just dont have the same skill set in the kitched! Food is what brought us togehter and has been a strong fiber in our three + year relationship. We plan on getting fork, spoon, and knife tattoos. I will have a fork and knife and an outline of a spoon, and he will have a spoon with an outline of a fork and knife. I am not about the “ring” tattoo.. I think it looks cheesy. Therefore, my tattoo will be part of a half sleeve I am already working on. I totally understand why some people would not go for the tattoo engagement, however it fits my personality.
my fiance and i thought about doing this, but decided we wanted rings. instead, i got “always” tattooed on my side and he got “forever” so we will be by eachothers side forever and always!
I really like the idea of getting a ring tattoo, but my only caveat is that it fades so fast. I’m not too keen on getting it re-inked ever couple years. If it weren’t for that, though, I’d consider a 2-3mm band in my favorite color, red oxide.
My Fiance and have matching ring tattoos for years i think 8 and weve never had to retouch them. They havent faded at all! We were told they wouldnt last but clearly the artist was mistaken. We have been together since we were 14. The very reason why most people dont like ring tattoos is the exact reason why we loved it – its permanent! To us, that was the point, you cant take it off….it’ll always be there with us. We are best friends and even if something ever shoukd happen down the road, we’ll still be friends and love each other. Its been 22 years and two kids later were still going strong. We also, just recently got me an ering. With the wedding band, the two rings cover up the tat. His weding band also covers his tat. To me, if you want to do it, go for it!
I love tattoos and actually have 2 but I wouldn’t give up my e-ring and wedding band for one.
I don’t have any tattoo’s…and never plan to get one. I would rather have something sparkly anyway 🙂 However my SO is in the military and rarely wears any kind of jewelry and has told me he might want a tattoo instead of a ring…For safety reasons and just comfort. But I would like him to try a ring out first, and then if it he doesn’t like it he can get the tattoo if he wants. I’d prefer the ring but it’s the symbolism that matters.
I voted other, but I probably should have chosen “probably not – visible tats aren’s my thing”. I have seen some simply stunning tattoos on other people, but given that I can’t even put my foot down about getting a second set of piercings in my earlobes (and that’s before considering how I don’t even know how to apply mascara!), it’s not something I could see myself doing. Besides, I love jewelry too much to forgo a more traditional wedding ring. 😀
i love, and have, visible tattoos…but HA no. no tattoo ring. no no no no. if i had done that, i would have two oopsie ring tattoos.
I wouldn’t but my step SIL did. I really like his. He is a truck mechanic so he can’t wear rings. For him, it fits.
I have 4 reasons for not doing ring tattoos:
1. I’m not into tattoos on myself. It doesn’t suit my personality (or my distaste for needles)
2. My hands aren’t really big enough for tattoos. I have extremely thin fingers with virtually no fat between the skin and the bone, so it would be extraordinarily painful for me to get a hand tattoo.
3. My skin isn’t optimal for tattoos. My skin sheds pretty rapidly and I’m allergic to many dyes, so it would probably either fade in a couple of months or cause an allergic reaction.
4. They kinda leave a bad taste in my mouth. My sister got one with her now-ex husband, and he turned out to be absolute scum (he was abusive and also got arrested for possession of child porn.) I know it has nothing to do with the act of getting ring tattoos, but still. Those tattoos make me think of him.
