I would do it, even without 50% off! I’m not superstitious, and I don’t think something like a date could make our break my relationship!

I totally wanted to do it in November! My mom talked me out of it because so many of my guests are from out of town, and it’d mean having to get off work even earlier to make a Friday wedding instead of Saturday. But I still wish I could have done it!

Today’s my mom’s birthday too! She’s always liked having 13 as her b-day, cause so many people make a big deal of it she gets to have a "special" number. ^_^

Today is my birthday too! The only reason I wouldn’t do it in Feb is that I don’t think I’d want to get married on my birthday – but another month would be fine!

@Liz.smith – I love having my bday on the 13th for the same reason! I was actually born on a Friday as well so it’s hard for me to think of 13 as unlucky.

the only downside I see is that it’s a friday. The 13 doesn’t bother me at all. 50% off? hell yeah!

50 percent off?  Sign me up!  The date doesn’t bother me… nothing bad has happened to me ona Friday the 13th (knock on wood I cant believe I said that out loud and now if sometihng bad happens to me I’m going to blame it on Mr. Bee for asking me that question).  I think if something had ever happened to me that was pretty bad on a Friday the 13… then I wouldn’t get married on that date 🙂

I just half-jokingly SUGGESTED that we go down and take care of it today – (since we’re bored). LOL. Yeah I don’t see a problem with it. It’s a good story (and no, we didn’t go).

funny y’all bring this up….

our very first choice date was nov. 14th.  then we saw that our venue was $1,000 cheaper on a friday.  so we thought, one day earlier? we can do that!  but that meant friday the 13th.  now, i’ve never had any bad luck on a friday the 13th and i don’t know why i would start to, but i just couldn’t risk it.  what if someone in our bridal party was superstitious or something bad happened to one of our close friends or family?  in the end, we moved our date up one week — nov. 6, 2009.  all’s right in the world.  BUT…if the venue had offered 50% off (rather than just the $1,000) because it was a friday the 13th — i’d have been all over it!

Umm…maybe it’s just me…but I wouldn’t do it!  I plan on having something borrowed, blue, old, new, and a sixpence in my shoe, why would I cancel all that good luck with a date??  It’s like breaking a mirror before the grand entrance!  (Plus you’d blame everything on the date…if anything ever went wrong people would say "See?  Friday the 13th!"  Like I don’t hear my mom say "I told you so" enough already??

Lol MightySapphire!

today at work one of my coworkers today told me that the number 13 was lucky in her culture (she is of Italian descent and second gen here).  She said that it’s a GREAT day.

If it were FREE, I would.  Or if it was the only day I could get my dream venue, I would.  It would certainly not be my first choice.  But I really dont see anything wrong with it at all.  My xmil told me that black for bridesmaids dresses was unlucky.  She gave me all kinds of heck for wanting to have them wear the LBD.  But then again, she was wrong wasn’t she?

Oh and Happy Birthday to our Birthday Brides!

My sister got married on a Saturday the 13th (2007) and I gave her a hard time that hre anniversary would fall on Friday the 13th every so often.

My freshman year of college I lived on a 13th floor and no harm came of it- so I guess its not really that bad of a number!

It wouldn’t bother me too much, but my fiance would NEVER go for it.  (We couldn’t even get married on Saturday, June 13th because he thought that was too unlucky!)

Although!  When I was meeting with our cake baker last week, she showed me some items she had for a bride and groom who were having a Friday the 13th themed wedding today!  They were having a very grim looking wedding cake to say the least, but their cake topper and cake stand looked awesome!  I only wish I were invited so that I could see how everything will turn out!

I think that if I were looking at the calendar and could pick any day of the month I would probably avoid Friday the 13th if I noticed it.  But, at 50% off?  That would certainly sway me, of course!  Although we were only looking at weekends and Friday would have been out of the question anyway.

But- today (Friday 13th) we applied for our marriage license and didn’t see anybody else at the courthouse.  I wondered if the date kept folks away.  Nice for us, though… no waiting in line!

However, one superstitious thing I did was look up when mercury retrograde was happening this year and avoided setting the wedding date around then.  Silly and superstitious, I know…

Happy Birthday rasgoola!!

I would get married on Friday the 13th if it worked for us schedule & moneywise. I am somewhat suspicious (having grown up in Ireland) but if that was a day that worked for us I would have no problem…and if we got 50% off..even better!!!
