I probably wouldn’t be there. .. I would say it is worth it to go to Saturday.

I would rather go to a Thursday wedding.  It’s easier to take a Friday off, or just deal with one day of work before the weekend…

Probably not, unless it was a sibling or my best friend getting married.  I think you should pay the extra $500.  There’s got to be SOMETHING you can cut out of your budget (decor, make your cake, different food, wear shoes you own, DIY makeup, etc) to make up the difference.

@Equine_Breeder:  Thursday or Sunday are definitely much better options than a Monday wedding

@Equine_Breeder:  If it’s the same cost for a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday then go with Saturday if you’re set on a traditonal dinnertime wedding.

I think that a lunchtime Monday wedding would be great, personaly

The important people in your life will find a way to attend your wedding.

EVEN if it is a Monday.

I think Sunday would be a thousand times better.  I understand that $500 isn’t pocket change, but I think it would seriously be worth it.

@Equine_Breeder:  Dang, your boss is bringing me down! I’d go to a Monday wedding especially if it was in-state. Can you pick a Monday that is a holiday and therefore guests might treat it as a Sunday (work the next day but not work the day of)? That might lure some more people to attend.

@Equine_Breeder:  If I were flying in, no I would not attend a Sunday wedding unless I was close to the person.  Then again, I wouldn’t fly to a wedding period unless I was close to them so my opinion regarding that might not count for much.  If I had no more than a 2 hour drive and everything was wrapped up by 4 or 5 pm, then yeah I might go on a Sunday.

*edit:  You should note that this is coming from someone who would never miss work for a wedding unless it was for a close family member or friend…and even then it would depend on how hectic things are at work.

It would depend on how close I am to the couple. Close friends? Definitely. It would also depend on how much notice is given. I’m having a Thursday night wedding and almost all of our guests will be flying or driving 15+ hours. I sent our STDs & invites out super early.

The responses are diff than I would expect.  For me if we were close I would travel for it.  It’s one late night, if I was close by to go I would take a post work nap and be dancing until it was shut down!  It’s one night in your lifetime to see your friend/cousin/co-worker get married.  People stay up to watch sporting events, TV shows, movies or finish a book, suck it up for one night!

@JaneyDcat:  I disagree.  People just cannot make some events — it doens’t mean they don’t care.

@Equine_Breeder:  Thursday would mean…one day off at the end of the week.  Sunday, Monday, or any other day would mean…taking a day off at the beginning of the week then having to rush back to work.  Thursday is so much better!

I think you should go for a weekend day, like Friday or Saturday.  Just put aside a few dollars a day and save up the extra $500.
