NYE is always an overhyped let down for me, lol, so I would def RSVP. Sounds super fun!

It is just a STD- you don’t need to commit now.  I think it would be fun- I don’t really enjoy NYE parties with a huge crowd of strangers.

mrshttob:  That sounds like such a fun way to spend NYE!  I’d be all over it.  But then, I’m not one to make big plans on NYE when left to my own devices.

I think it sounds awesome!  NYE usually sucks – way too much hype.  The only thing that would prevent me from going is travel – that would be a bad time to have to get a flight/hotel in Manhattan.

That sounds like The Best way to spend NYE!! Seriously, a private party in NYC that you don’t have to pay to get into and you’re guaranteed to know people!

    ajillity81:  this exactly! +1

it’s your friend’s wedding and you are seriously wondering if something better will come along? I went to a friends wedding that was on my birthday last year because it’s their once in a lifetime thing and I can celebrate my birthday another night and again every year after that I’m lucky to have one. It’s NYE most things you would attend would be similar in stature to a wedding anyway (champagne, dancing, party) right? Wow I’m sorry but I’m glad you aren’t my friend, I would be so hurt / PO’d if one of my friends was concerned something better than my wedding might come along.

mrshttob:  your original post made it sound like you were worried about missing out on a better party or NYE event, that’s all. I understand wanting to be with your family, that’s your prerogative and you know how your friend would feel if you missed her day better than anyone.

mrshttob:  We have family traditions over the holidays, including new year’s eve. I wouldn’t be attending because it’s family first for me. I feel the same way about all weddings on holidays and long weekends. They are so few and far between that I’m not willing to give up any of my family time.

I would love a NYE wedding- I can’t think of a better way to ring in the New Year, celebrating and dancing with friends and family! Bars are always so crowded, I would much rather go to a wedding.

Either you stay home and celebrate New Years’s Eve or you go out and celebrate it. What’s the difference between the wedding and a New Year’s Eve party?  I would go.

mrshttob:  I think a wedding would be the best way to start the new year.
