I’m getting married NYE this year. I have heard nothing but excitement when I tell my friends/family. Private party with good food and open bar with your closest friends and family ringing in the new year together.

That sounds like a really good time. The only thing that may stop me is how close I am to either the bride or groom, but since you said you’re good friends then I see no problem! And since they picked such a big deal date, they’re probably going all out in terms of food, drinks and entertainment! ๐Ÿ™‚

Im new to the planning parade but, arent save the dates just saying “heyyyy this our day for you to keep in mind in case you need to make travel plans or work arragments” not a tell me if you are coming thing….  I would believe if I am not wrong you still have plenty of time to decide she just wants you to keep the date in mind when making plans for yourself..

A party (or wedding in this case) in a Manahtten penthouse sounds like pretty good plans for a NYE, esp if it were a good friend with a fair group of friends there, assuming you are in some of the same social circles.  Honestly, if I were your good friend and found out you were waiting to see if “better” plans came up for NYE than coming to my wedding, I’d be pretty upset.  Your SO would be invited too right?  What else would trump this?  A bar full of strangers?  Ringing in the new year at home in PJS?

mrshttob:  Would I plan a NYE wedding, absolutely. What better way to party than at a wedding party? However, if I were planning a NYE wedding I would expect a certain number of guests to be unable to attend due to holiday travel etc. With enough notice perhaps they can all make accomodations but again that time of year is tough for some people.

I would definitely attend a NYE wedding locally and if I was close enough with the bride and groom would perhaps consider traveling further.

I would absolutely, positively go!!! I may be biased though because my wedding was this past NYE and it was a BLAST!!! Everyone is still telling us how much fun they had! Some are even saying that we need to throw parties on NYE every year to celebrate….which I am so fine with! ๐Ÿ™‚

IMO, there is no better way to ring in the New Year than to be surrounded by so much love from family and friends. It’s an indescribable feeling. I think you will have a great time if you go!

I would totally go. I mean, NYE can be expensive … so you get the party, dancing, meal and drinks and you get to see people you know and not a bunch of random stangers in a bar or hotel party. Heck..sounds like a good deal to me!

mrshttob:  Hell yes! In fact, we had one. ๐Ÿ™‚ We got married NYE 2013 and it was awesome. It was such a fun night and we loved starting the year off as husband and wife. At midnight, my husband laughed and said “Easiest year of marriage ever”. We sent out STDs in February 2013 and did the invitations in late September so people would have more time to plan.

It’s just a STD. You won’t have to actually RSVP until the invitations go out, much closer to the wedding.

I think this sounds super fun and I can’t imagine celebrating a NYE in any better way than that! Plus you could turn it into a trip and see New York City or the surrounding area. Sounds like a lot of fun!

mrshttob:  I would so GO!!! It’s a party that’s paid for and you get to celebrate with a friend….it’s one New Years out of many and I am sure the bride and groom will make it a great time for their guests.

OMG yes!! I went to a NYE wedding this past NYE and it was so much fun! I never really have any cool plans so I was so happy that we were able to dress up drink and party in downtown Chicago with all our friends…and for free!! (well we gave a wedding gift but we would have anyway!)
