    Probably not. I’m always happy to see the extended family, but don’t like going to celebrations unless I know the guest of honor OR whoever is taking me as their date (which would be DH) knows the guest of honor.

    Yes.  I`d make a long weekend of it and stay at a nice hotel, book a spa day, do some touring etc…
