So I have been casually looking at bridesmaids dresses and I found this one that I think I want my Maid/Matron of Honor to wear. I am unsure if it is something she would actually like though. If you were a bridesmaid would you hate me for putting you in this? Is this one of THOSE dresses? Also, is it too close to my dress style in your opinion? I will be getting it in either deep red or deep purple.
For some reason it wont let me copy the pictures into the thread.

Oh I forgot. If you do hate it, why do you hate it? What would you change about it or what would you prefer instead?

It looks very bridal to me, but I dont hate it. Although, it would look terrible on me. I have big hips and I think that would be very unflattering on my body shape.

I definitely don’t hate it. I think it’s pretty! But to me it doesn’t look like a bridesmaid dress…it looks more like a wedding dress.

I dont hate it, but how much is it? If its moer than 150 then yes I wouldnt be happy it looks very bridal like the pp said

Would it still look bridal to you in a different color?

I voted No, I wouldn’t hate it. Would I be overjoyed? No, because it’s not my style. However, as a bridesmaid, I think all you can really ask is that the bride not choose anything that’s too expensive or that’s really super ugly. If you do have a bride that lets you pick your own dress, then great! But in most cases, the bride will want to choose, and she may pick something that just isn’t your taste.

The cost is irrelevant. I’m paying for the dresses.

I think it is a very pretty dress in the advertised colors…but I also think it could go wrong very fast…it would have to be worn by someone with a figure for that kind of thing and the color would have to be carefully selected so it doesnt look like a disaster. But I really do think it’s pretty. I like the touch of lace at the top to soften the stiffness of satin.

I’d really hate wearing it because I’m very busty and would be worried about the exposure and lack of support. However if your BMs are on the flater side it could work.

I don’t hate it but I don’t love it. The lace and mermaid shape is what makes it “bridal” to me. It doesn’t seem appropriate for August either (satin = sweat to death).

Indoor, air conditioned wedding we may be moving to october.
I was going to contact the manufacturer and see if it can be made into an a-line skirt instead as well.

I probably would hate it a little… sorry. Not because it isn’t pretty, just because it would look terrible on me. I’m 5’5″ size 18 with Dirty Delete boobs. = mermaid dress would look ridiculous on me. Plus the back looks too low to wear any kind of normal strapless bra and going braless would not be an option so I’d end up having to find some kind of magical low-back bra that was tough enough to stand up to Dirty Delete boobs.
But….. thats just my specific situation. If all of your girls are tall and thin with small boobs then I think its fine.

I don’t know it just rubs me the wrong way with the sleeves or something, sorry.

Honestly? Unless all of your girls are model size, that dress is not going to look good on all shapes. I don’t know. I’m just not impressed with that dress, BUT it’s not my wedding and I’m not in it!
I will say that it matches your dress though!
