Have the bridal shower!! You’ll always be able to get another $500, you’ll never get another bridal shower.

And I think you can make it cheaper than $500! What about a park or something?

If your family is willing to spend that $500 regardless (either on the shower or in lieu of one) and you want the shower, I say go for it but look for ways to make it less expensive as other bees have suggested.

There’s lots of ways to have a bridal shower and not have it cost $500, it sounds like you want one so now it’s just figurign out how to cut down the cost.

Have the shower! It is about celebrating and memories. Not money and gifts!

You should talk to your family about it since they are the ones who you said would be paying for it.

I would just have a smaller bridal shower if I were you, 40+ seems quite alot. You seem very focused on the gifts you will be receiving at your bridal shower, just enjoy celebrate getting married rather than the gifts people will give you.

Is it your family who is hosting the bridal shower, or you? I always thought that bridal showers were hosted by someone other than the bride. Mainly because if the bride hosts it, she looks like she just wants present. After all, a bridal shower is to “shower” that bride with presents. Then again, we are in modern times now!

I would wait to see if anyone else wants to throw you a shower. Maybe your bridesmaids will, or your parents friends. Honestly, tons of people usually line up to host bridal showers from where I come from. (I wouldn’t ask anyone to do it though, that is rude).

If nothing comes from waiting. Then if you really really want to host your own, do so. Just make it cheaper, no need to spend $500… that is a lot of money for a simple shower. Maybe you should do a few small showers at your house, instead of a big one at a venue. I mean, who wants to sit for hours and hours opening up presents anyway?
