Sure, why not!?! Every famous wedding planner had to start somewhere. : (4 votes)

Not a chance! I'd rather pay for experience than let an unknown plan my wedding. : (2 votes)

if you start as a DOC and do a number of weddings, then i might feel comfortable hiring you as a planner.

If it were free, I’d potentially enter.

That being said, I’d only start the contest & potential business if you’re 100% committed to it – because even IF the contest winner is getting a free service, it’s still their wedding you’re helping them plan, you know?

But people start out from little-no experience all the time – this might be a good start for you.

(Another option is to potentially chat with a few wedding planners and see about linking up with them for some training?)

Honestly, i wouldn’t. A wedding is too important to have it planned by a newbie without any experience. No personal offense, but a lot of people are very creative with lots of customer service experience, but that alone doesn’t make them an amazing wedding planner and i doubt that someone who has never done that before has the complete overview that is necessary to plan such a meaningful and large event.

But that’s just my personal opinion as someone who is too chicken to start an own business, and i think if you really wanna do it just try it and see what happens.

I would if I talked to you and our personalities and wedding visions meshed well. I’m currently helping a friend for free (though I have no desire to get involved in wedding planning!) because she has no one else to ask and is not really visually/design inclined. I don’t have experience, but I understand weddings and have a good eye.

So yeah, if we talked a couple times and I felt you “got” me and my wedding I would hire you. Especially if it were free or inexpensive.
