(Closed) Would you let someone try on your ring?

No way! This is not a community ring.

I would, but I'd feel uncomfortable about it.

I would and I'd be perfectly fine with it.

I think everyone of my friends and family has tried it on! Haha! It doesnt bother me at all!

But if it was a stranger, I would probably let them try it on. BUT I’d be ready to tackle them if they tried to make a run for it! Haha!

I think when women ask to try it on they are trying to get a feel for what size/cut/setting they like so they can tell their SO’s what the might like in an e-ring.

And I think women who already have one are just kind of comparing theirs and the one they are trying on.

Either way it doesnt bother me!

I’m totally fine with it! I have one best friend who’s already married as well and we like to switch sets while were together, hehe. Also this might make me sound a little strange, but I like to see my ring on other peoples hands, because I’m curious about what my ring looks like to others!

If i’m close with them, no I wouldn’t care. A mere acquaintance, they can go kick rocks.

Multiple friends have tried on my ring.  I take it as a compliment

Literally five minutes after DH proposed his sister wanted to try it on, I had no problems with it! Then, that night all his female cousins wanted to look at it (he proposed at a family vacation) I still had no issues. My sisters tried it on…honestly the only time I’d think hell no is if it was a stranger or someone I barely knew for the fear if having it stolen.

I’ve let anyone who asks try on my ring.  My sister, my mom, a few friends of mine.

I let my maid of honour wear mine, we switched for about an hour.

I don’t think it was a big deal. We were all just hanging out on the couch with our husbands.

I’ve tried on my cousins’ rings before, no big deal. My sister and my mom like to snatch mine (politely) and wear it for a few minutes when we see each other. I wouldn’t ask anyone I wasn’t close with to try their ring on though.

I have never seen this happen before either! I would be uncomfortable that they asked but I’m a pushover/people pleaser so I would hand it over with a smile. I do think it is a bit rude to ask unless it is a close friend and they are engagement ring shopping or something and wanted to see how it looked on them.

I would and have let close friends try my ring on. I’ve also tried my close friend’s ring on. I do think it would be odd if a stranger asked and I wouldn’t let them.

@strawbabies:  I’m sure there are a ton of nice ways to say no, but for me personally I would feel rude saying no just because I think the request is a little weird.

After I got engaged I think everyone I know tried my ring on.  I went to work and everyone was like OMG can I please try it on?  My sister and her friends tried it on, my friends tried it on.  I took it as a huge compliment!  I love my ring and obviously they do too!  I think I had so many people ask because most people I know are going to be getting engaged soon and I was kind of the first out of my group of friends/work friends to get engaged so everyone was just really excited and wanted to see what it felt like to wear an engagement ring!

I’ve had a few people ask, who were all either very close friends or fmaily, which I could care less about. My ring is also on the unusual side and sometimes when people ask to see it they kind of bend and twist my hand to see the details, half the time I just take it off and hand it to them, which leads to them putting it on *shrugs*

I did once ask to try on someone’s ring, but it was the same senario she just handed it to me, and I asked if she would mind, she laughed and really wasn’t phased by the question.

The only time that I have said no is when I was working in a jewlery store and a woman started complimenting my ring. I tried to keep it brief, she started asking questions and I told her that my Fiance had bought the ring at a different store and I’m sorry I didn’t know whick one, and she started DEMANDING to try it on. I said no, if you want a similar ring here is this one blah blah blah she was very insistant and rude about it. I ended up telling her that she was making me uncomfortable and pawned her off on a different associate.
