Don’t give your negative opinion on it (unless you are asked). I think it’s nice and have a friend who has a claddagh engagement ring that she adores

@spiffanee:  personally, I don’t like it. But don’t say anything your friend may love it. Either way her SO put forth effort to buy it for her so that means something

No, though I’m not a fan of claddaugh (?) rings, maybe she is.

I can’t really answer because every woman will feel differently. If I was proposed to with that ring, I still would have been ecstatic and would have loved it simply for what it symbolized, but in general, gemstone rings are not my first choice.

It looks like a promise ring I saw at Walmart. FI said it wasn’t nice enough for a promise ring when we were 16. I would not be happy with the ring, but who knows maybe she will be. I wouldn’t give my opinion on it, unless asked, then maybe I’d say it’s not my personal style.

I like it a lot as a right-hand ring, but not so much as an engagement ring. Just my opinion. Hope she likes it!

I like it :). I did not want a cladagh ring for my ering but my husband considered getting them for our stand in bands. We might get them for right hand rings at some point. This ring is actually pretty traditional in certain circles.

I maybe a minority though, but I sport a rather unusual ring with an even more unusual color changing sapphire. I prefer colored stones for center stones.

It would make a nice promise ring, but I wouldn’t want it as an engagement ring.

@spiffanee:  oh, gotcha. if he’s still there then maybe explain that it might not be seen as an engagement ring. tell him you just weren’t sure what to say earlier, if you want to say something about it. maybe even just ‘it might not be seen as engagement to everyone, but you know her and she may love it’ or something along those lines

I would not, but that’s because I am not into claddagh rings. Do you have any idea of her opinions of that style? If you know that she doesn’t like them, say something. If you don’t know, I’d at least ask him if he know whether she likes them or not. Maybe she has told him that she does.

I don’t like it because I dislike emeralds. Otherwise I like what it represents. I think she may not interpret it as an ering though.

I like the concept of claddagh rings (I think the crown means loyalty and the hands giving a heart are self explanatory). I would love it if it was the stand in ring until we went shopping for the real ring (which sounds horrible!!!) – but every lady is different so maybe your friend will love it :-!
