When we moved last summer, I just about lost my mind trying to find a place that would allow pets. Not once did I ever consider giving them up! That is NOT an option. Neither of us would ever give up our furbabies!!

I don’t have pets at the moment (my beloved dog died last year of cancer), but NO. NO. NO. If I had a pet, I would NEVER move to a place that did not allow pets. Pets are a LIFELONG commitment. You can’t just give them away if your apartment doesn’t allow them…

No way. They are my family. You don’t leave family behind.

Never, ever, ever. We have 2 dogs and a cat, and they’re like our kids. In fact, we both frequently joke that if we do decide to have children, they’ll probably end up being second favorite to our animals. 😉

No way. I can’t stand when people do this! It makes my blood boil. Pets are a lifetime commitment and they are not replaceable. If you can’t make that commmittment then you shouldn’t have pets at all.

I wouldn’t even consider it. There is NO WAY in hell I’d abandon a family member like that. I can’t believe people do that, it makes me so sad. My cat is my baby!

@Twyla_Smith: Absolutely not. Our furbaby is an important part of our family and we would never give him away. I find a lot of people use the excuse of “oh, so and so is allergic” or “we work” or “we’re moving.” Were none of these things considered when purchasing a pet? I feel they can’t handle the responsibility (in some cases) and try to come up with a nice excuse.
Also, we would never rent again. Freehold, detached is the only way to live. NO ONE can tell me furbaby can’t come too 😀

Not a chance. If they can’t go there then neither will I.

No way! My dog is a family member, and my family will live with me. If people are willing to give away their pets like that, then they really weren’t ready or deserve to have a pet.

NO! When we adopted our two cats they became permanent members of our family. I can’t imagine giving them up. Of course there are plenty of gorgeous apartments in our city that we would love to live in, BUT they don’t allow cats (or they require cats to be declawed, blech), so they’re off the table entirely. FI and I aren’t moving for another year, but I’ve already done an exhaustive search of the apartments in our city to find one that makes everybody happy. The one at the top of the list not only allows cats, but doesn’t require an additional deposit or monthly fee, AND offers cat-sitting!

a big fat NO!! Fiance and I have already discussed that. We think it’s horrible when people do it. When we moved to Boston our apartment pool was greatly limited by having cats, but we didn’t care. We would never even consider giving up our furbabies. They’re a part of our family.

thank god we didnt have to but we were considering it.. we were coming up on wedding date fast and didnt hav a place to live..
we would not have gotten rid of them but left thim with a family member until we got a house with a yard.. the place we eneded up living allows pets for ne extra charge but they do have to stay inside all day.. i take them to the dog park or walks every day but i do feel guilty and selfish that i NEEDED to take them with me. but i loooove them 🙂

This nugget lives where I live. End of story.

I would move to a dump that allowed my Harley before moving to a place that didn’t allow her. She is part of the family and I can’t even imagine letting her feel abandonned. We’ve had her since she was 8 weeks, she is now 2 1/2 years old.
