I moved to Florida 4 years ago and have been teaching here since then. Before I moved to Florida I was a special education teacher in NJ for 14 years. I really dont like it here and want to move back to NJ. I gave just started applying for teaching positions in NJ, but dont hold out hope that I will get an offer while I’m here. I think I may have to move back to NJ first.
Would any of you bees move without a job? I do have some income besides teaching, but I am planning to keep my house in Florida as my kids live here and dont want to go back (young adults in tjeir first jobs..cant afford to take over mortgage.)

wifetobee63 : If you keep your house in Florida and continue to pay the mortgage, will you also be taking on another house payment (rent?) in NJ? I would only move without a job lined up if I had enough money saved up or coming in to live comfortably and not worry for 6 months, possibly longer.

I don’t know. I live in NJ and it’s expensive here, especially living off savings (as I’m sure you already know since you’ve lived here). I would apply first and in interviews tell them you have connections here and wouldn’t request relocation expenses (if that’s the case). They might be hesitant if they think you’re going to ask them to pay to relocate you.
