Title says it all. Would you pick a dress that you loved or the dress that your entourage loves. Married bees which way did you go and how did you feel about your dress after wards? Did anyone buy a dress and regret it? Do you wonder what if? What made you pick your dress?

Your poll is different than your title so I am confused. I would pick a dress that is flattering over a dress I loved, but I don’t think I would love a dress that wasn’t flattering! Does this dress make me look thin is on the top of my list of dress requirements.

I would keep looking until I found both of those qualities in one dress. I hope to not have to settle with a dress I will regret. But if it came down to your two choices, definitely would go with flattering over love.
But that depends on what the flattering one looks like. You can keep looking and find flattering ones, but a love for a wedding dress as I’ve noticed only comes around once or twice.

No, I get it. I picked a dress that I love. It is also flattering, but I know others would have been more flattering. I don’t care. I’m rocking my princess ML ballgown.
Maybe it’s because I’ve worn several wedding dresses for work, I don’t know. But IDGAF what anyone thinks about my dress but me.

delphinia: your poll really has nothing to do with your title.
Personally I’ll never understand why women choose clothes (wedding dresses and otherwise) soley due to being in love with the item itself. My friends who pick clothes this way tend to be the same ones complaining after the fact about how terrible they think they look in a photograph or, once the trend or style passes, saying ugh I wish I’d worn some thing flattering. Something can be gorgeous and/or super in style at the moment but may not be right for YOU.
I say keep looking until you find something YOU love that ALSO flatters your body. Definitely don’t base the decision off of other people.

A flattering dress and a dress your entourage loves are different things. I’d choose a dress I thought I looked great in vs a dress that I think is generally “prettier”. BUT, I wouldn’t chose a dress just because my entourage loves it because personal taste plays too much of a part in that. Like, I wouldn’t choose a mermaid dress just because my entourage thinks I look the best in it, because that’s not my personal taste, if that makes sense

I agree with PP I would choose a more flattering dress over something I loved the style of more but just didn’t fit right. However, I need to love the dress so I must love it even though maybe not as much as the other dress. Go with what looks good and YOU love – not everyone else. If that’s not the case yet then keep looking!

My family loved a classic a-line tulle dress. I felt like a cupcake and thought it drew too much attention to my waist. I am built like a brick with no curves. I tried on Tara Keely 2450 and absolutely loved it. The dress may have been a little too modern for my family but I loved the clean lines of it and the adult feel. I will need to raise the waist about an inch or two and possibly add some lace to close the neckline slightly. But this is definitely my dress. After choosing dresses to please everyone but me I have finally chose a dress that makes me feel confident and beautiful. I can hardly wait until it comes in.
monsterly I hope the bridal salon is able to switch your order. It is a great feeling to be wearing a dress that you love and expresses who you are.

delphinia: Your dress is beautiful, glad you chose something you love!! My bridal salon was able to switch my dress, and I’m so excited. I know everyone else loved the other dress, but it’s my wedding. I do what I want! Hahah. And I’m so happy that you trusted your gut and you seem like you know what you want exactly and went with it.

I would pick a dress that is flattering because I care most about being able to love myself in my wedding photos rather than being self-critical after the fact.

I would definitely pick a flattering one. I waited to look at pictures of myself in the dresses the day after my appointment that way I could see what I actually look like rather than the dress itself. I actually ended up buying the more flattering one, rather than the one I’d had my eye on for forever; it looked a lot nicer on me. I wanted to make sure I was enhanced, rather than the dress just looking great on its own.

A-line dresses slimmed me out and everyone said they were super flattering… but I’d always wanted to wear a ballgown and feel like a princess, so I thought “sod it” and went for the one that made me happy; I’d always have regretted it if I hadn’t!

I picked a dress that I love, it is a prom dress but it is the one! I have never liked any “wedding dress” because they all scream WEDDING… 😀
