I have my great-grandmas ring and I love love it! Honestly- we used this partially as a cost saving, but also as a tradition. He has said he is going to spend more on a wedding band than he would normally have (it was just the ering, not a full set) and then in a few years, buy me an upgrade.

I voted pick my own ring…I’m super picky and definitely have strong feelings about jewelry so it was important to me that I give him some strong ideas about what I wanted. However, I DO also have a family ring left to me by my grandmother, but I don’t feel comfortable wearing it at this point in my life. The ring from my grandmother is a gorgeous 7ct round canary diamond and I felt like it would look a bit silly on my mid-twenties finger right now. I’ll probably wear it for special events down the road, but keep the one my Fiance and I picked out together for everyday.

@mrs ranunculus: Beautiful!! I swear we have almost the same ring! Mine is passed down as well from his grandmother, his mother wore it as her wedding ring for years and it still alive but said she would rather watch me enjoy it then wear it herself so she passed it down, he had the stone re-set in the excact setting as yours and proposed! Long line of long happy marriages 🙂
