Again? As evident in this thread and the other one very similar to it from a few weeks ago, the majority prefer a real diamond. No matter how many threads are created on this very topic, the results are always the same (vast majority vote for diamond). So, you just need to feel comfortable with your own decision because you’re the one who will be wearing the ring. The majority don’t prefer simulants, but that should hold no bearing on your decision. Personally I think amora gems and forever brilliant moissanites are overpriced for lab created stones. I would rather spend a comparable amount on a smaller natural diamond, so that’s what was done for my ring. My diamond was less than $2k and is .72 carat, very good cut, VVS1. That was my preference instead of spending around the same amount for a 2 carat simulant.

I do not care or judge peoples clear stone of choice. I think people should get what they want and be proud of it.

for me personally, sims are for costume jewelry (which I have and love and wear all the time) but I wanted my wedding set to be fine jewelry with natural materials. Also my guy wouldn’t have considered it for the reasons above.

DrunkInLove:  said. Turn over the rest of the ring design/setting process to your SO. That way, he can still pick for you. And you won’t have to worry any more about picking out a setting for it. Ring shopping really can be stressful, especially when trying to find that one style/setting that feels “perfect”. But, if your SO chooses for you, maybe you can enjoy the anticipation of your proposal and engagement instead of feeling overwhelmed. *hugs*

Your Amora is beautiful, and it looks beautiful on your hand. Just do whatever you love and whatever fits you and your SO the best, and try not to worry about what others think. The only thing that matters is what you think and what your SO thinks.

I voted for a small diamond, but mostly because I would prefer a small stone of any kind over a larger one – just don’t like they way big rocks feel on my finger, and for my work they’d be a pain.  Nothing wrong with getting an Amora if big (or non-diamond for whatever reason) is what you want!

I like unique rings and gemstones are much more interesting than diamonds, IMO. So long as they’re tasteful and attractive, of course. 🙂

My diamond is no where near as large as most of the simulants on this website, but it is still bigger than most of my friend’s stones. Large, flashy jewelry isn’t common in my social circle, so if one of my friends shows up with a 2 ct + ring, I’d assume it was a simulant of some sort. No one I hang out with has the means to purchase a large diamond with excellent specs. Also, I agree with pp, why tie your self worth to a ring? Wear whatever you want, and be honest and proud about it.

soon_to_bee_trophy_wifey:  Have your Fiance choose the setting for your AG and surprise you with it. It sounds like he hasn’t been too involved with the ring shopping this far, and it might make things feel a bit more special if he takes it from here. Just tell him what kind of metal you like and let him choose.

I like sparkle. That includes diamond, moissanite, cz, sapphire, whatever.

I don’t have a preference if something is natural or manmade for my engagement ring (or hair color, makeup, laptop, clothes, handbags). I wear what makes me happy. The love in my relationship is genuine, and that’s what I want to be 100% real.

I was on this situation too a while thinking what do I really want… Larger or smaller diamond? I ended up choosing smaller. Im happy, deep down I think I knew I wouldnt be happy with a larger.

I don’t think diamond prices are worth it. I would choose a alternative again and again. I still get a white sparklie stone for more than half the price. Those are my priorities.

I love the amora you got.. Don’t worry about what strangers On a board say about its size. That’s not how your family and friends will feel. I also think you should give the stone to your SO and let him pick a setting himself! Than the stone is what you picked and ring is a surprise.

Diamonds aren’t overpriced considering that they’ve been in earth’s surface for millions and billions of years. When thinking of how old they are, they seem underpriced especially when lab simulant distributors are charging over $1k for quickly simulated man made stones.

MrsBuesleBee:  I agree. I do not care what others have but I associate a sim with what I would wear for a night out vs what i want to wear forever. I would consider a gemstone though….
