Would you rather
1) have a really nice rehersal dinner with good food wine plus your wedding party
2) have it at a cheaper bar with wedding party + guests and a few more or
3) nice rehersal dinner with wedding party + guest and pay more?
4) no rehersal at all and pocket the money
Just got into a pretty big fight about this with my fiance. I love to plan and reserached about 15 or so chicago restaurants and found one at the lower end of those that would be perfect for our rehersal dinner! For 30 people (wedding party + guest) I think it would be around $2500-3000. My fiance thinks i’m being unreasonable and my mom is telling me to but out and let him plan it (he’s talking about having it at a pizza place). My argument is that my parents are spending a good chunk of change on the wedding….and it will be a nice wedding…Pizza is not my style and the place I found is very much both me and my fiances style (we love good food and wine)
Should i just stay out? Who here helped plan theirs? Do you think it should match the style of the wedding?

Personally, I wouldn’t really care. I can see how you would want the style of the rehearsal dinner to match that of the wedding. I didn’t even think of that with our rehearsal dinner. Plus, we went the traditional root. Typically the groom’s family plans and pays for the rehearsal dinner. I am also pretty thrifty and love good company, so I would opt to have good food for a good price with lots of friends of family.

Well, to be honest I told my Fiance that the rehearsal dinner was allll his. Then again, I thought I needed a compromise because he is really into camo. And that was NOT really in my wedding day vision haha. So the rehearsal dinner is totally his show. I think if you’ve both been in total agreement on the aspects of the wedding day, then try to compromise on the Rehearsal Dinner. But if you’ve had more say in the wedding day, then go ahead and let him take over.

we are doing a pizza parlor for ours. Go relaxed for the dinner, the wedding is where you can go formal

You should talk to @ohemmag. She said she had a nice rehersal dinner at Leona’s in Lakeview (i think) for pretty cheap. She is very sweet and might be able to help!

She said Leona’s had a food package that was $11.95/pp and also opened a bar tab for the alcoholic beverages.
