I had the total DIY wedding. The venue was so beautiful, but only supplied tables and chairs. I think it was the better option for us, and our guests LOVED the food, which we got to choose from a place we WANTED instead of being forced to use the venue catering. I was also excited that we got to hire our own DJ/ wedding singer. He was the entertainment at our friend’s wedding and we really liked him. If we had chosen a “package” wedding venue, we wouldn’t have been able to hire him…
Beware though, it is a lot of extra coordination on your part to have a venue that lets you bring in your own vendors.

Anyways. The all inclusive fo’ sho’. The less I have to spend wrangling vendors for my party, the better. Top of my list actually, is a restaraunt buy out, so the majority of that would just be part of their standard offered services.
It WOULD be an issue if food couldn’t be taken home though. Not because I want it, but because the aunties and grandmothers on his side are the type that take ziplock bags in their purses to a brunch and start loading them up once everybody looks done. Those biddys would give the venue HELL if they were shooed away from the leftovers.

We chose venues where we bring everything in [except tables & chairs].
I pretty much a control freak and I like to do everything myself. We also had a specific meal in mind we wanted to serve, wanted to bring our own alcohol and decorate as we choose.
