So last Tuesday around 4 pm I received a call from a number I didn’t recognize, so I let it go to voicemail. On Saturday after I’d been working on a very long and draining assignment for the credential program, the same number calls again, and again. And then blocks the number and calls seconds later, as if I didn’t know the number that was calling me. And then calls blocked again a half hour later. At this point, I am irritated and I answer. The conversation went like this.
Her: Who is this?
Me: Excuse me? Who is this? You called me.
Her: Ignacio’s wife.
Her: Yeah, Ignacio’s wife. You heard me. You’ve been spreading your legs for my husband.
Me: Whoa, slow down. You’ve got the wrong person lady. I don’t know anyone named
Her: How old are you?
Me: I’m a college student.
Her: So that doesn’t mean you can’t spread your legs. You messed with the wrong family.
At this point I’m fuming that some stranger keeps saying this to me and I am trying to tell her that I truthfully am not the person she is looking for and that she’s got the wrong number. She hung up on me. I sent her a text telling her that what she’s doing is harassment and that I am reporting her since I have her number and whoever her husband is to the cops.
My brother calls her because he was with me when it happened to try to explain to her that she doesn’t have the right person and that she can’t call and harass people like she did. He asked where he got my number from and she said she saw it written on a napkin, so she must have mixed some numbers. And when he asked her if she could confirm activity from my phone to her husbands, again she couldn’t confirm. He told her to check her husbands phones beore harassing people and then again she told him. “Tell your daughter to keep her legs shut” and then hung up.
He thinks that she probably feels like an idiot for calling the wrong person, but I’m still really shaken up at being harassed like that, especially for not even being the right person! I don’t even live in the same county that my cell phone area code is anymore and haven’t for several years.
Would you guys report this to the police or just let it go? Both my Fiance and my brother and my mom think it’s unnecessary to go to the police, but I play by the rules and am tempted. I haven’t had time to go, yet due to finals and projects for school but I’ll have time tomorrow. I just want some opinions from you ladies to see if I am overreacting or not. What would you do?
In case anyone is wondering, I don’t know any Ignacio’s and I’ve never been unfaithful to anyone I’ve been with, even my crummy ex who constantly cheated on me. I am not the person she’s looking for.
