    It’s cute, but no, I would not spend that kind of money on a cake topper.  DH’s ring was less expensive than that.

    @Chrysoberyl:  I would just have visions of it crashing to the floor when catering takes it out back to cut the cake.

    @Chrysoberyl:  It’s lovely, but I wouldn’t even spend $500 on a cake.

    There are little nick knack things like that at stores all over the mall, I’m sure you could buy one similar and use it as a topper

    I think it’s okay if you have another use for it afterwards and will save it in some way. If it is just a throwaway or dust collector then I don’t see the value as much. 

    Having said that, everyone has different levels of disposable income. While a lot of the people above me said they wouldn’t spend the money (and I don’t think I would either), if you personally can afford it and really want to make the splurge then why not?
