Lately the pics of a moissanite on here have got me seriously thinking about this. I only ever considered a diamond for my engagement ring and never even knew about moissy until joining the Bee.
But I think moissanite has come a long way and they’re very close substitutes now. Maybe if my husband were ever on board with it and if I wanted to go slightly larger, I would consider doing this in a few years. I’m just curious at this point.
What are your ladies thoughts? Would you ever?

I agree with the PP. I love my 1 carat diamond and even though my Fiance wants us to upgrade one day, I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to. I’m very sentimental about my ring! Bigger isn’t always better anyways 🙂

In hindsight, I think about the things we could bought with the money that he spent. I love my ring but now with my guilty selfish feelings, I would’ve looked at it for an option.

I wouldn’t swap my ring because I love it. I do think I will get moissantite earrings in the future rather than diamond earrings.

If we had gotten engaged at a young age and purchased some tiny included speck of a diamond and as we got older we wanted to upgrade, then yes.
But…I went with Moissanite anyway…so I can’t answer other than hypothetically.

Maybe if I had a small or low quality inexpensive diamond.

No, I may have considered it if we were young and were choosing between a plain band and a diamond-alternative but I love the work that he put into carefully considering the stone, and my single carat will do just fine for the rest of our lives.

GirlyGirl24 : no I wouldn’t why would I?

GirlyGirl24 : Nope. My engagement ring is my engagement ring and can’t be swapped out in my mind. I might consider moissanite for other jewelry (RHR, earrings, etc) .

Nope, I love my engagement ring, It is a simple 1 carat solitaire and in my opinion it is for life. We are changing out the setting for my solitaire, but it is still a simple gold setting just a thicker band.

I have both diamond and moissanite – and I love them both. The good points about moissanite are the price, hardness, they’re made in a lab, so you know they’re ethical (no one died or was injured mining a moissanite), and they are beautiful. Their downside – they’re not diamonds.
I ended up getting a lab-grown diamond because I really am concerned about the ethical aspects of mined diamonds. Then I found out about moissanite. I wish I’d known before! They are absolutely beautiful gems. In the end, It’s really going to depend on the individual – for some people they must have a diamond at all costs. I personally would have loved a moissanite as much as a diamond.

Not a chance, but maybe for a RHR or earrings as PPs have said!
