I think of Quinn as a girl name due to Glee and there was a really nice girl in my speech class also named Quinn but I have never met a boy with the name.

And no I dont think it too much is he/she going to have a middle name too that would break up the Ns if you are too worried about it.

I think it could be either. I have no initial reaction to boy/girl and would be unsuprised to see it was meant for one or the other. I don’t think there would be a problem with the last name starting with ‘n’ either.

At first I thought boy, so that’s what I voted for, but then I instantly thought girl after I voted. I think it’s pretty androgenous.

Honestly, either. I love that name. I don’t know about the last name thing though–its hard to give an opinion if I can’t sound it out. I’d save that for people who know your last name!

Pre-Glee I would have said Boy.  Post-Glee I always think Girl.

I’ve always thought of Quinn as a girl’s name. But now it seems to be a popular boy’s name, which just feels weird to me.

I think spelling matters, though. Quinn to me is for a girl, Quin for a boy.

I think of Quinn as a boy’s name because I’ve only ever met one Quinn in my life and he was a boy.  His name was spelled Quinn rather than Quin.  This was also a number of years ago, and he was one of my students, so I don’t know if the name has increased in popularity since then.  I don’t like it when parents give their children first name’s that end with the same letter their last name starts with.  So, personally, I don’t like Quinn N.  The comment about a middle name, while valid, seems a little strange to me since teachers won’t call him/her Quinn Middle Name Last Name, they’ll just call him/her Quinn Last Name, so when his/her name is spoken there will be nothing to break up the N’s.  That’s hard for a lot of people to pronounce, including myself.  Like I said, I used to be a teacher and it was a secret pet peeve of mine when parents would do this type of thing.  To each his/her own I suppose, but remember this is a name your child will have forever and you want it to be something they won’t get teased for and will like too 🙂

P.S.  As long as you really love the name and it’s not something terrible like Brenton Jamison (BJ) then I don’t think it will be a big deal in the whole scheme of things.  Yes I knew someone with that name, and yes everyone called him BJ.  Even his parents lol  Worst case scenario, it’s a mild frustration for the child as they’re growing up.  When they’re an adult they can always legally change their name if they want to.

I think girl (not because of Glee, because I don’t watch it and didn’t know that was a character) because it fits better to me.

The only Quin I know is actually a boy though; his full name is Quintarius.

The only Quinns I’ve ever met were boys.  But Glee has recently created a surge of girl Quinns.

I went to college with a boy named Quinn, so I say a boy.

I’ve never watched Glee, but I think of it as a girl’s name. It’s actually my top choice if we have a baby girl! I love that name so much!

I’ve never met a Quinn but always thought of it as a girls name because of the show Daria. We actually added that to our name list for a girl but I might have to rethink it because I didn’t know it was used in Glee.

I don’t know any Quinns personally but I love the name.  I think it’s suitable for either a boy or a girl really.  I know there are both male and female tv characters named Quinn, (Glee and Dexter)
