My husband would never wear a band with diamonds- ever. But if he did I would definitely think it was weird and mine better have more carat weight.

His attitude about that is really off-putting…

I am an Other simply because I couldnt imagine being married to a guy that would want that blingy of a ring.

@glittermoon:  oh man I can’t believe that! He was BRAGGING?! I think he’s being incredibly selfish and kinda of ridiculously flashy…

My guy doesn’t like diamonds in mens rings so this would never happen but I too agree that the female’s band should be the MOST sparkley one.

I couldn’t care less.  I don’t think my husband would ever want a ring with diamonds, but if he did it wouldn’t be a bling competition.

No, he’s very blingy so it might turn out to be the case.

But that’s TCW while mine is almost all in one very high quality stone… I don’t think several smaller ones that add up to more weight will end up costing nearly as much (fingers crossed… but I want to get him whatever he wants. Price was no object for him when he got my e-ring, so same applies when it comes to his ring.)

I would find a guy wanting over a carat of diamonds in a wedding band to be off-putting, period. Regardless of the size of my ring. I can appreciate a guy who wants nice things but get a watch with diamonds or something manly. Super blingy men’s bands always feel to me like the guy is either effeminate or a booky.

But, to get back to your actual question… yes I definitely would have a problem with the guy’s ring being blingy-er UNLESS the girl did not want a bigger ring for some reason. If she set a size limit as her preference then that is fine. But otherwise, I would wonder why he splurged on his own ring but not hers? Seems a bit selfish to me.

This post made me think of a couple we know..his ring has a LOT of bling. I don’t know if the total carat weight is more than his wife’s rings, but it has to be pretty close. He’s not a jerk about it though, at least not that I’ve seen.

To me it’s kind of odd, but maybe that’s just because Fiance would never wear something that had a lot of sparkle.

I wouldn’t mind it, but him bragging about it is what really puzzles me.  Personally, though, I wouldn’t care either way.  I’ve got small hands and simple tastes, so it wouldn’t be hard for my Fiance to surpass me in terms of ctw.

If it suited him and my ring suited me, I wouldn’t care.  The bragging part is what’s really weird and off-putting to me.
