Those pavers are a recipe for a broken ankle! (But, like I said– I’m terrible in heels and I never wear them).  Maybe a wedge if you must have the height?  You don’t want to be that bride that face plants on her wedding day! (I’ve been watching way too much America’s Funniest Home videos to know that this DOES happen).

If you love your heels– give it a practice run.  See if you can head over to your venue and go for a little walk.  If you can do it, then go for it!

If someone is walking you down the aisle (dad, brother, mom, etc) then I think heels are an awesome choice, if you’re comfortable in them anyway. Your new husband (eek!) will be walking back up the aisle with you, so that’s someone to hang onto on the way back. 🙂 But I don’t think wearing flats is a bad choice either!

It’s hard to tell from the pic, but are the gaps between the stones big enough to get your heel stuck? I’m just remembering a 4 Weddings episode where all the girls kept getting their heels stuck in the planks of a deck, lol. Personally I’d skip the super high heels and get a cute kitten heel or wedge.

I’d go for wedges, they’ll give you the height but some stability as well. If you can’t find a pair that you love, then I’d find ones that you like for the ceremony and then switch to the shoes you love for the reception. Of all the things that you’ll be thinking about on the big day, you don’t want to have to worry about staying vertical!

It depends. I’m very experienced in walking in all sorts of heels as I wear them daily but I hate walking on pavers, cobblestone and anything that’s uneven. I think you should still wear heels but go with either lower heels, wider heeled shoes, or wedges. I would avoid anything too slippery or with too thin of a heel like a stiletto. If you spend the whole time worrying about tripping, the camera will catch your nervousness and it’s not worth that to wear stiletto-type heels.

@Kimy:  With all of that walking I would recommend a wedge/platform.

Wedges or flats, those pics look scary for thin heels!

I’m not saying that I think you’ll fall, but do you really want to have to worry about tripping during that walk? You want to be soaking it all in, not worrying about how stable you’re going to be! The idea about wedges is a great one, to give you some height but more stability.
