Nope. The hipster trend needs to go, along with those dumb mustaches.

I have been wearing glasses (and now contacts) since 2nd grade.

I have to wear glasses and I like them.  But if I didn’t need them to see, hell no I would never wear them.  The problem is when you actually need them you have to deal with the annoying stuff like never being able to see in the rain, steaming up when you’re cooking, having to rock the double glasses look if you want to see a 3D movie, either never being able to see at the beach or risk losing them.  And did I mention rain?

People with fake fashion glasses can just take them off whenever they feel like it.  It’s like they’re mocking me.  Obviously I know that’s not the intention, but that’s why it’s annoying.

Oh hell no!  I have to wear glasses in order to see and I’d give anything for 20/20 vision!

Well the question you ought to ask yourself is “do i want to be a hipster?” because well only hipsters wear glasses that they dont need.

super large glasses are hipster, wanting to wear attractive perfect accessory glasses (non prescription) IS NOT HIPSTER

    – from a non-hipster who enjoys wearing her “almost no prescription but makes them legit” beautiful glasses.

also, this hipster nonsense is just over the past few years… i wanted to wear glasses since the 90s and never changed my thoughts!

I wear Rx lenses. If I didn’t have to would I still wear glasses? ABSOLUTELY! Why the hell not. It’s an accessory like any other. I couldn’t care less nor do I feel offended that someone wears glasses if they don’t need to. That’s silly. I’ve worn glasses most of my life and I don’t go around really noticing other peoples lens or have drawn out convo’s about glasses. The only time care are when I’m able to get a new pair every 18 months or so with my insurance.

@Mrs. Wallaby:  Same with me…I look great in almost any pair of glasses I try on but my eyesight is perfect. I’d never start wearing them though unless I had to. Maybe one day my vision will got downhill and I get myself some cute pairs.

I wear glasses because I need them, but I love them so much that i’d probably throw on a colorful pair as an accessory if I didn’t need them!

Honestly, why not? Everyone just gets too judgenental or gets triggered way too easily. If they want to wear fake glasses just to look cute in an outfit one time, then ITS TOTALLY FINE! There’s no need to make such a big fuss over it. Just do what makes you happy. Just because u wear a fake pair once, doesn’t automatically make you a “hipster.”

I do totally understand the other side of wearing fake pairs being annoying or “insulting,” but just have some chill. No one who wears fake glasses is gonna personally come up to you and boast and mock at you about them having perfect 20/20 vision. (If someone actually does do that, they’re the a**holes who deserve a slap)

And I’m totally sorry and totally empathize with those who’ve been bullied cuz of having to wear glasses at a young age, but there’s no need to hold a grudge against anyone who has had no idea about your past with bullying because you wore glasses. Let’s have some chill and enjoy and let everyone do what makes them happy. If you want to wear glasses because you want to change your look, I say GO FOR IT and IGNORE whatever people will think or oppose. And if you do have something to say to oppse it, THATS OKAY TOO, just don’t make it such a big deal where you end up holding them against wear a fake pair of glasses.

    Cheers!

Mrs. Wallaby :  I don’t need glasses and I don’t wear any even as a fashion statement, I barely even wear sunglasses when it’s sunny. It doesn’t suit me and I get spots extremely easily if anything touches my face such as sunglasses at the bridge of my nose. However I have a friend who owns a “nerdy” looking pair of glasses just for show for when she’s driving, literally no lenses just frames, I don’t know exactly if/how this connects but she’s a beautiful Barbie-esque model and her experience is that she used to get pulled over a lot by traffic police and after she started wearing these “serious person” looking glasses while driving the problem of getting pulled over stopped.
