I was slightly freaking out about all the stuff I will have to change my last name on after our wedding. I was talking to a friend of mine and it’s like EVERYTHING! I wish there was an easy button I could press for it to all be magically done. Here is my social security number and my marriage license, done. Haha.
But it really hit me that the name I have identified myself with for 27 years will no longer be. I created a new gmail account for my future name – it’s soo weird. I mean I am definitely going to change it but it makes me sad.
Anyone else in that boat?

I am! I am really proud to take FI’s name, but it’s SO bizarre. I ordered return address labels the other day with my new name and our new addresss…I felt like I was ordering them in the future!
There are SO many things to change your name on…I may actually wait a bit to officially change it so I don’t miss anything!

I’m so excited to take my FI’s last name!!! I no longer want to be a (my lastname) because of my father (long story).

I’ve been married a little over two weeks and have yet to even start looking into changing my name. Ultimately I want to have the same last name as my husband and kids but I agree that it is hard after 27 years and having multiple people call me by my last name. I think I’ve decided to continue to use my maiden name professionally and to include it as a second middle name and to use my husband’s last name socially. We’ll see how it goes!

I haven’t looked into it yet. I am excited, but also really sad. I kinda want to keep mine : I am going to wait for after the honeymoon to really do that. Ughhhh

It’s definitely a defining moment.
Yeah, I think I am just not going to think about it until after the honeymoon, haha.

I made the change a few months ago too!
I too enjoy the re-birth idea of looking at it!
