Some of you may remember my little saga about how we were trying to adopt an emaciated Great Dane and how we were having a hard time communicating with the rescue. Anyway, after about a month we finally brought him home at the beginning of June, so he’s been with us for about a month.
Anyway, I just wanted to share his before and after pictures. It’s amazing what feeding your dog will do!
Here is the very first picture I saw of him, about 2 months ago (right before the rescue got him):
And here he is tonight, we brought him to the vet and he weighed in at 121 lbs – that’s FIFTEEN pounds heavier than when we first got him!

@kswiftbride: He looks GREAT!!! Nice and fit, but HEALTHY! And looks like he has a beautiful coat too. Do you mind me asking what kind of dog food or what you are feeding him? How old is he?

This is absolutley amazing. You should be so proud of what you have done for him and how wonderful he looks now. It’s good to know there still are some good people out there 🙂

Thanks so much everyone! He is so sweet…how anyone could do that to an animal is totally beyond me!
@laurn88: Haha, actually it was totally NOT intentional! We were just trying to figure out what color would look good with his coat. That’s funny though!
@purple_sofia: Both our Danes eat Taste of the Wild. He eats Sierra Mountain formulation, and our female eats the Pacific Stream. He is just around 14 months – he eats a different formulation because the calcium level in his is a bit lower which is better for a growing giant breed dog. We are very happy with the TOTW food – both of our dogs do fantastic on it, shiny coats and tons of energy.
