A glue stick is probably the better choice.  Tape leaves a little gap that I’d be very wary of when mailing something.  With a Glue stick you can also glue right to the edge, which is a bit harder with tape.

@perfectingfaith:  Have you considered a tape runner? Like the scrapbooking type? Glue sticks don’t nessesarily have a very high adhesive bond and could get pulled off.

The other option may be a higher strength spray adhesive, this will be quicker than a glue stick and also a stronger hold.

I didn’t do this with my invitations, but I’m thinking that the kind of double-sided tape she meant is not the kind that looks three-dimensional but, rather, the kind that you apply from one of those little, plastic roller dispensers similar to those used when applying correction tape to cover errors. I don’t know exactly how to describe them, but I think the sticky tape they dispense would provide a much more secure adhesive than would a simple glue stick.

@Elky:

Thank you. That is exactly what I was trying to describe. I also agree that what at least used to be known as “Spray Mount” when I was in grad school would be a good idea, but I remember it being a bit messy and having fumes.

No no!! It’s so much easier than all that!!!!!! Just go to amazon and type in ‘full page label’ You can print about five on every sheet, cut them with a paper cutter and simply stick them on. I did this for my invitations, stds and RSVP envelops and it was so simple. The listing will be under the brand Avery.

Avery full page labels work awesome.  For our wedding I used Elmer’s glue for our wrap labels.  Worked like a charm and the paper stuck…no lifting.
