I used one of the wrap around labels for my invitations and I tested one by dumping it in the mailbox, and it came back to my address but the stamps were not cancelled but with a computer bar code at the bottom. I went to the post office to ask what happened since I put enough postage and the addresses are legible. She told me I was supposed to put the return on the top left hand corner, and she said the computer system read my return address as the mailing address. She said a lot of people do it not realizing it may be returned. She said I might get half of them returned back to me. I asked her if hand canceling would solve the problem and she said p-robably not but she hand cancelled all my invitations and told me “we”ll see.”
Now, I am getting worried. I have read on weddingbee that most people do not have problems with wraparound labels. What should I do if they get returned with the stamps all cancelled?

@piyo: i love the look of the wrap address label but this is the exact reason why i didn’t use them. i hope that you don’t get many returned. good luck.

I used wrap-around labels for both our shower thank-yous AND all of our wedding thank-yous! Of the ~100 envelopes sent that had wrap-around labels, not a single one was returned.
Sounds like it just depends on the post office, how much they’re relying on the machines to do the reading and sorting, and whether or not they really want to be a pain. =

3 local friends have reached out to me and said they received the invites! Hoping none will come back!! Cross my fingers.

I did the same thing, but with the return address I turned it 90 degrees so it was sideways hoping the machine wouldn’t pick it up. I sent about 50 out and only 1 came back, which I just popped right back in the mail.
But those were save the dates, I am wondering if I should still keep the wrap arounds for the actual invites.

I used wrap arounds for our invites AND RSVP envelopes. We have only gotten one back – and it seems to be an incorrect address. I’ve already started getting RSVP’s, so people are getting them! Not sure what happened there… people have put return labels on the back forever.
