My Fiance and I are writing our own vows and I’m so lost. I am not a writer by any means and my Fiance has a Master’s Degree in English so automatically his vows are going to be better than mine. The pressure is on for me to write something good!
For bees who have written their own vows, did you and your Fiance decide on a certain format beforehand? I’m worried that we’ll both do our vows very differently. I’ve been looking online and it seems there are a few different formats for writing vows. There’s the regular format like this which is just straight vows:
I promise to love and cherish you.
I promise to always make you smile.
Then there’s a more lengthy format that tells a story of why you you’re marrying the other person, how you knew he was the one when you met, etc. Example:
Ever since our first date I have known you were the one because…
I love you because…..
The things I like about you are….
You are my ________, _______ and my ________.
I promise to….
So how do you figure out which format to use and does it matter if your Fiance does it differently? I suspect I’m completely overthinking the whole process (I do that often!) but I can’t help it!!!
