- Wedding: September 2012
Alright, so I had my heart set on AA dresses, and thus looked up stores in my state that carry them. I found one within 20-30 minutes of my house, so of course I ran in there right away with my entourage of bridesmaids. I found my dream dress, and found amazing dresses for my bridesmaids and flower girls. We were told the dresses would take no longer than 3 months to arrive once they were ordered. We picked them all out in January, and I set a deadline of March for my bridesmaids to order them. April 1st came around, and everyone was ordered and paid for up-front. So I got a call a month or 2 later, and my dress was in! perfect in every way! But then 3 months went by, and I hadn’t heard anything about bridesmaids…this is now the 4th month and we still don’t have them.
My Maid/Matron of Honor and I took up calling the store every day for the past 2 weeks to try to get answers as to when the dresses would be in, and the owner had every excuse out there (can’t check status, they’re closed…computer system is down…etc etc.) not to mention she never EVER returned our calls when we told her to and when she promised she would. She also has caller id and would screen our calls (this is a little store and the owner is 1 of 2 workers in the store). Finally, the other worker was in and answered my call, and when I asked her when the dresses would be in, I was told the beginning of September because the factory in China was running behind. As I’m sure you can imagine, I was outraged. Extremely angry, couldn’t stop crying, and hated the woman.
At this point, I was freaking out. I called AA to see if there was any way they could rush the order, that there was no reason the dresses should take 5-6 months to come in. They said they could not give me any information, but that they could take my information and have the owner of the store in which we purchased the dresses call me. So I gave them my information (this all happened yesterday, 7/26/2012). I called my Mother-In-Law and she ended up calling the store, and got the truth out of them.
Although we had paid for the dresses in March, she had used the money my girls paid up front to pay her bills because she was having “cash-flow” problems (aka, she’s broke.) The truth is, the order was placed July 10th after she received a loan from her mother to keep her store running. We are looking into all options at this point, including legal action and restitution. I now have to look for other dresses for my bridesmaids, and as I’m sure you can do the math, the wedding is 50 days away. I am stressed out of my mind and sick to my stomach that this lady is messing with so many brides’ weddings!
My fiance and I were in the store 2 weeks ago looking at tuxedos, and while we were there another bride was going off the wall screaming at the owner; unbeknownst to her and myself, she was having the EXACT same problem as me. Thankfully my dress came in early, and we did NOT go through them for tuxedos. But I am now heartbroken that the dresses that I had picked will not be in my wedding because of this woman’s screw-up.
My Mother-In-Law also called today to see the status of the dresses because she told the owner that they would be in contact every single day until the dresses are in, and my Mother-In-Law told her she didn’t feel confident that the dresses will arrive in time for the wedding, and that she should maybe start looking at a plan B…the owner AGREED WITH HER to start looking into other options, but told her not to make any purchases yet! ABSURD!!!!!!!! If you live in Minnesota, do not go to this store in PLYMOUTH. I just hope I can at least do some good by preventing this from happening to other brides…the BBB will be contacted, and we will take whatever steps necessary to right this wrong.
