I need to vent…
My fiancé was really concerned with me getting a ring that I love, so we decided to go to my families local jeweler to have the ring made. I went to the initial meeting and we picked the center stone and I told him the kind of setting I liked, but my fiancé took care of the rest so that it was still kind of a surprise.
He proposed about a month ago and I love the ring because of what it symbolizes, dont get me wrong! But I’m still a little sad that the ring’s setting isn’t what I asked the jeweler to do! I had said in the first meeting that I wanted a pave set band because I don’t like channel and he did channel set. 🙁
My fiancé has noticed and remarked on how the band doesn’t shine very much and how he wants to “upgrade” in the future. But I don’t know if I should explain to him why its not shining, or suggest talking to the jeweler (since its not what we asked for)…or even say anything at all. I’ve tried getting used to the channel setting but a month later I’m still a lil disappointed. Don’t know if its like too late now…

some jewelers have a return policy up to 100 days can you possibly change it?

Oh that’s tough! I’d probably tell my Fiance that the setting is not the one you two had planned and then discuss together whether it’s worth going back to the jeweler. Good luck!

haha thanks yea! it is a little bit of a tough situation because the last thing I’m looking to do is offend my man or make him feel like an idiot for not noticing.

Well, something probably should have been said right away, though I can understand feeling mixed about it during the moment of engagement and so on, but I would definitely say something now if you are not happy with it. It is pretty apparent you are not going to be happy with it as long as it is like that.
Hopefully you are still within the return policy or the jeweler will be willing to remake the ring for you even if you are not given it was not what was asked for.
Not sure why your Fiance would be offended, it is not unusual for people who do not know rings to now know what “channel set”, “pave” and so on are!
Good luck and let us know how it turns out!
