Oh, man, that’s so frustrating!  Were there any other companies you considered before selecting this DJ?  Would you consider working with one of them?

I hafta say, on the iPod wedding front: We had a DJ and BIL and SIL Bruschetta (who got married about two months before us) had an iPod wedding.  We had our dance floor packed at times — and pretty full at others — whereas few people danced at their wedding.  A good DJ can really help enhance the party atmosphere and keep guests moving!

just try and meet one of the other DJ’s he’s trying to set you up with.  Chances are, if you liked this guy, he’s friends with other cool DJs and not all cheesy/annoying ones.  In my opinion, the person pushing the play button really wouldn’t matter to me in the grand scheme of things.  Just get someone in there to do the job. i wouldn’t flip if i were you.

OH NO!  That’s horrible!  My worse nightmare!  I’d take some time and try to find another DJ, they may be available, ya never know.  I’d say the iPod wedding could work but you’d need someone to hype the crowd, like an MC.  Or else I’d meet with the DJ’s that are part of his company, maybe you’ll find one you like even better!

I would be so upset!  But I wouldn’t allow him to try and mess up YOUR day, forget him!  Is it too late for you guys to pull out all together and find another DJ.  Or give the other dj’s with his company a shot, you may like them better!  I hope it all works out.  These vendors need to get it TOGETHER!!

I would demand a discount – what a coward for emailing you. Just tell him that’s absolutely ridiculous – he is under contract so NOTHING should have come up to prevent him from working. Tell him he’s abandoning you last minute so you can’t go out and CHOOSE another DJ, they’re all booked. I would threaten to hire a lawyer too if he tries to get too defensive.
