whoa_its_ash:  That’s what I don’t get. Even her dresses that are ok looking (and that’s honestly about the most I’ve ever thought of one of her dresses) look like they should cost around $1200 tops. That’s not really an insult…my dress cost about that much…but I fail to understand what makes someone go “yep, that’s the one, here’s my money,” and shell out anywhere from $5-10K on it.

I almost understand it more when they go for the sheer bodice, gaudy, bedazzled stripper-fairy dress…even though I think those are hideous…it’s clearly a trademark look that a certain niche of people are willing to splurge to obtain. But for the ones that just look like standard satin dresses, I don’t quite understand the marketability. They look identical to dresses made by Allure, Mori Lee, DB, etc.

I don’t mind her ballgowns, as other PPs have said. But, whenever I see any sheer dress tried on or bought on SYTTD… I don’t feel like it’s flattering at all, or looks like a wedding dress. Yes, usually the girls trying those ones on look great in them, but I wouldn’t feel like I could wear some of the more sheer ones around my family.

There was one custom made on an episode last week, and it was very nice… and looked fit and flared/trumpet. The bride look stunning in it – and no sheer areas!

This Pinina Tornai ball gown looks great: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MzTQfXnp9js

I think I saw it on SYTTD. The bride had a 2-3k budget and she wanted a ball gown. Tornai sold this dress to her for half the price because it was orginaly made for a bride whose wedding got called off.

I think SYTTD brings out the worst Pninas for shock value. If I have to see that sheer bodice sarong-looking dress one more time I’ll puke…but when brides actually ask for a Pnina ballgown some of them are not bad, just overpriced.
