@flowermower:  I did WW a few years and found that online was definitely more helpful than the meetings (which I found sort of depressing). I lurked around the 20something board mostly and they had lots of good tips/tricks and recipes. If you haven’t already, download the mobile app and/or the barcode scanner app. I found them really useful for counting points at restaurants and buying things at the grocery store.

@flowermower:  I have done both meetings and online, and I feel like meetings are more valuable to me.  But, not because of the actual meeting itself ( like @HoyaTerpDC:  said:  they can be kind of depressing!).  I found that getting on a scale in front of a stranger was more motivation for me than just weighing myself at home.

I earned Lifetime membership in January 2011, but then quit going because they didn’t provide e-tools (AKA tracking online) for free at that time, and I didn’t feel like I should have to pay extra when I’d already paid so much monthly to get to that point.

I gained everything but about 5 pounds back, and I decided to sign up again yesterday for meetings because once I hit lifetime again, they do provide free e-tools now, and I don’t believe this is an option for WW online (basically, if you want to use their tracker, you just pay for it forever).

So, I think it can be done either way successfully, but it’s just something to think about!  🙂

I liked http://www.SparkPeople.com when I tried to lose weight. They tell you your calorie range, have an app where you can scan barcodes of food and track it, have a cool online community, and lots of workout videos/ success stories/ etc.

And it’s free 🙂

I use it, I like it! I lost 65 lbs over 4 years counting off and on online. I would never actually go to meetings, so this works for me. I didn’t know there was a barcode scanner though! Hook a sister up @HoyaTerpDC:! Is t actually in the WW app, or is it another app?

I’ve been doing WW online since February and have lost over 31 lbs so far.  I really like it.  It keeps me accountable for what I’m eating and I don’t really see myself as the type to get anything out of going to the meetings.

And I second the barcode scanner app.  So nice when grocery shopping!

I love WW Online. I have done it on and off for 4 years. I lose weight everytime, I just end up moving/starting a new job/death of a parent/insert something else stressful and I end up quitting and then restarting over again.

My only advice is don’t get too caught up in the message boards there. They are quite a bit more snarky (actually, down right rude) than the Weddingbee, and I found a lot of conversation to be about politics/religion quite offputting.
