I know there are already TONS of Xmas Gift threads flowing around. But I am really stumped on what to get the FI’s SIL for Xmas this year. We’re putting a ~$50 cap on all adults this year.
She loves to read (we thought about a Kindle but even if his parents & brother go in it’s still WAY over our cap), likes dragons (don’t know why!), loves Gwen Stefani & L.A.M.B, makeup.
And that’s really all I know about her.
We tried to do the Spa thing for her b’day but his brother basically told us to just give her money. Don’t want to do that again.
I thought about maybe putting together a at home spa kit? What can I really put together that’s decent for under $50!

I’d get a cute wicker basket (if you have a Christmas Tree shop near you, they always have inexpensive ones) and just add a bunch of cute stuff. A Sephora will have tons of cute, less expensive stuff. Maybe the travel size bottle of the new LAMB perfume, some lip glosses, a candle, lotion, a new book. I think it’ll be so fun to open and you can make it less than $50 for sure.

Some may think it’s impersonal, but I would give her a gift card to sephora or M.A.C. for the amount intended. If she likes makeup, etc. This way she can pick out exactly what she likes.
Did she use the money you gave her for her b-day at a spa? If so, not sure about the home spa kit. But if not, then I think it’s great.
If you go to TJ Maxx or Marshall’s to their body lotion, etc area, you can make her an amazing basket for $50!

There’s this thing you can get at Sephora (I’m doing this for FI’s brother) where you spend $50 and get something like 10 perfume samples and a voucher to redeem for one of them. This is a great gift I think and it will let her pick what she wants and go get it for free!

I’m not sure what she did with the cash we gave her (in fact his brother told both us and his other brother to give her cash). At first I thought it was a combined decision from both of them that they would rather have cash this year for their birthdays, which is cool. Because that’s all I ever want bc they suck at getting me gifts. Haha. But anyway, I kinda doubt she used it for the spa.
I’ll be heading to the mall on Monday with a friend so I’ll def check out Sephora. I saw they had a facial spa kit for $30 so I could start from there and add to it.
Good idea about Christmas Tree Shop and TJMaxx! I can definitely put together a kit from there.
Does Sephora have a trial size of the L.A.M.B perfume?
I thought maybe I can add a paperback, some lavender aromatherapy candles. And maybe a body lotion and body scrub?

Well, she already has both of the Gwen Stefani’s perfume. Scratch that.
His brother said the only thing she really asked for this year is jewlery. And she likes silvery ornate stuff….
I hate buying jewlery for other people.

@hotchildinthecity…what a great idea! I might steal that one from you!

@Soon2BeMrsM: It’s soooo easy and a little more personal than a gift card.
@Gerbera: Go to Sephora and click gifts and then for her and then value sets. They’ve got a TON of makeup/spa sets on sale for a fraction of the price.
As for jewelry…Macy’s? They always seem to have a lot on sale.

We’re getting Future Sister-In-Law a gift cert to Sephora for exactly the same reason mentioned above. Plus, she’s still in college & loves to shop for herself but doesn’t really have the $$ to do it.
You can definitely create an at home spa basket for less than $50. They’ve got tons of great smelling soaps, salts & moisturizers at Home Goods, or you can buy some inexpensive Epsom salts and add an essential oil like lavender or something. How about a really nice fluffy robe & slippers and a bottle of bubble bath?

Personally… I love gift cards. 🙂
