I went to a friend’s wedding there and my understanding is that you need to know an alum to host an event there.

It looks like you do need a sponsor, according to the FAQs on the site.  My aunt and uncle got married there….it’s unbelievably gorgeous.  For some reason I can’t post the link but if you go to http://www.yaleclubnyc.com and under the Guestrooms tab there is a Guest FAQs, and it says that their facilities can be used only by members, or a member can sponsor a social event.

Totally worth looking into.  Their cocktail hour was AMAZING, food was great, and having that terrace for pictures?  Priceless.  If I were getting married in NYC, this would have been one of my absolute top choices.

The Yale Club houses other university’s clubs also (Dartmouth for one) so it might be worth calling about Vanderbilt.  You never know!  Good luck!!!  It is gorgeous and the food is great, went to a wedding there a few years ago.

You don’t need to be a member or have an association.  I looked there for my wedding last year and have no association whatsoever and they were ready to book me.  I know someone getting married there in Sept. and I don’t believe she has any affiliation.

I got married there, am a Yale Alum & a Yale Club member.  You do need a Yale Club member to “sponsor”.  All that means is a name to write on a form (can be ANYONE, great uncle, friend, whatever).

The other colleges that are affiliated with the Yale Club are Dartmouth, Williams (this might have changed…), and UVA – they have access as well.  Also, the DKE fraternity.

I don’t know this from experience and have only heard a rumor — that if you don’t have any affiliation, you can still have your wedding there…for an extra very pretty penny:-).

You can have your event there but they charge you more money. It’s less if you have a sponsor and it’s even a better price if you are an alum.

If you know an alum or a faculty member , but they are not members, would that work in order to get a discount? Or do you have to be a member of the club.

Well all I have to say is, I am getting married there, the conversation of sponsor or alum never came up…and ive never heard of anyones PPP lower than mine in NYC…

I would just go in and talk to them, ask for Jamie, shes the best! If you want, I can send you her email.
