I went to a wedding that had them.  It was cute but not one single person used them.

We had 4 sets of cornhole at our wedding. We made sure to have lights set up so they’d be playable as long as people wanted to. They were busy allllll night. But a lot of our friends have boards and we play at every get together when it’s nice weather, so it wasn’t just some random cutesy wedding thing – it was very us 🙂

Advice – make it close to the rest of the reception activities so that it’s natural to come and go from there, and don’t forget LIGHTS!

futureMrs.Owens:  I went to a wedding where there was badminton. That was really fun. However, I didn’t play many of the yard games since it was too hot outside.

If your wedding is during the day, then I recommend that you set up areas that provide shade. Another thing to remember is to bring bug spray for your guests.

futureMrs.Owens:  We are planning on having bags, bocce ball, and possiblt lawn golf. All of our friends play games at get togethers; so I’m sure it will go over well.  You know your guests better than anyone 🙂

lolot:  great idea on the lights!! I wouldn’t have thought about that.

I’ve been to a few weddings with games. We hand corn hole at ours. However, I have noticed that it is mainly the kids who play them.

We had an outdoor wedding with games and they were used THE ENTIRE TIME! I think their success depends on your guests and the style of wedding. We had a VERY CASUAL wedding and didn’t have much of the traditional stuff: no formal dancing, no first dance, no bouquet toss. Instead we had the games. Our wedding website told people this was the plan and recommended comfy clothes or bringing a change of clothes. Plus, our crowd is pretty fun loving and casual.

We had cornhole, horseshoes, an airsoft shooting range, giant jenga, giant lawn bowling and a bouncy house.

Yes, the kids definitely used them, but so did the adults…I’d say just about everyone played at some point. In fact, we really didn’t need all the seating I rented because except the ceremony we never had everyone sitting down at the same time. We thought it was great! But it really depends on what you want and what your guests expect.

I’ve been to a couple with cornhole and they were used but not the whole time. Still fun for those who don’t want to dance

We had cornhole for our outdoor cocktail hour and they were used pretty much the whole time. We had a lot of fun with it! We bought ours plain from etsy and painted it ourselves.
