My dress came in and I got to put it on for the first time yesterday. This pic is not the best, The dress just came out of the box and needs steamed. Also on the lower right side of my dress where that bow is, I am pinning a large rhinestone brooch to give it a little bling action. You can kind of see the lace under lay at the bottom left corner of the pic, that is actually a layer that runs throughout the whole dress, bodice and all , it just doesn’t show since this is a bad quality pic . I had some doubts while waiting but am a VERY happy camper now that i got to try it on again! What do you guys think??
O and also, I found a STEAL. My bridal shop is selling a GORGEOUS chapel length pencil edged veil for only $36!!! I love the way it looks with mermaids and I can’t wait to get married it in!
Now , I need to find Jewelry- should I go the pearl or rhinestone route? Suggestions?
Here she is !

Oooh, I love the bow around the bottom! I think that since you’re adding bling to it, I would get jewelry wtih rhinestones or at least pearls with rhinestones as well.

If you’re doing a rhinestone brooch, I would go with rhinestone jewelry to keep the jewelry look consistent. I think that adding pearls to a dress with lots of detail would look out of place and maybe too jewelry heavy. With matching rhinestones, you’ll keep the look all of the same throughout the outfit.

I tried on this dress! If I went with it, I was going to pull the overlay up at the bow to show the lace underlay more 😉 I would go with a pearl and rhinestone combination. I actually am using a pearl and rhinestone combo myself, I found them at JC Penney’s 🙂 Hope this helps!

This is a beautiful dress! Both types of jewelry would look great, but you may want to consider where the wedding is and what time of day–pearls always feel so daytime fresh to me, but rhinestones would sparkle at night/inside under lots of reflective lights and mirrors!

Beautiful dress! I am usually partial to rhinestones, but if you’re doing the deep red lipstick route, I think that will be gorgeous with pearls!

@bjblackston: I am getting married in the evening, but not under any mirrors/ lights. It will be a little before sunset

PS I’m going with crystals, and my bridesmaids are going with pearls/crystals. Here’s a photo of my MOH’s necklace for you to judge how you feel about the combo!

@Anniebo: That’s beautiful on you! And the rhinestone brooch is a great idea!
I love how full the skirt is! Are you wearing a hoop or anything to give it that poof or is that just the tulle in the dress?

@MrsMo: No I have a “fit and flare” crinoline on underneath, I did not even know they existed until my bridal shop showed me it ! . Without the crinoline it looks like this, still a little pouf but I think I prefer it with the crinoline ( and ex nay on the flower, I do not like it! ) :
