Hi Bees…I have been searching for just the right shoes (at the right price) to attempt ‘strassing’. I wanted to use Jessica Simpsons Acadia in white but could’nt find my size online for under $80. So today at Nordstrom Rack I found these:
Steve Madden…they were selling for $50 on clearance for $22
I had been looking for white shoes since I am using clear crystals…but I figured silver shoes would work just as well. The toe of the shoe as well as the heel were brown so I spray painted them with silver metallic paint that I happened to have at home for another project.
I purchased some crystals last week off Ebay but as of today had only received my 12ss size (1440 pieces). The other sizes I ordered (16ss and 20ss) from an Ebay store in China since their price was lower…sadly I have to wait another couple of weeks before those arrive. But once I had the shoes in hand I knew I needed to get just a taste of what they would look like…so I printed a coupon for Michaels for 25% off your entire purchase (including sale items) and purchased 2 sets of 100pcs of the same size (12ss 16ss 20ss) swarovski crystals. The crystals at Michaels are normally $10 a pack but were 30% off today so with my coupon each pack was around $5.50 after tax.

I used both packs of 100 crystals so I am just working on trimming the edges with the smaller 12ss crystals that I have. I am using E-6000 glue, a ‘magic’ tray that helps flip the flatback crystals so they are easier to pick up, and a Bead Buddy that has one ‘tacky’ end to pick up the crystals for placement. I am sooo tempted to go back to Michaels and buy more crystals!!! But I am trying to be as economical as possible with this project so I will have to wait!! I will post again once my crystals arrive and I make more progress!! Anyone else who has done/is doing this project want to post pictures?? I can’t see enough crystal shoes!
