Its actually quite common. Your vaginal area is a lot more different and moist which makes it to stay dry down there. Gross huh? So the yeast infection is common and can come quite frequently. And if you dont treat them they can get bad really quickly while pregnant.

@MARIE901:  Call your doctor and ask for an appointment to have an exam, they can test if it’s yeast or other common vagainal infections and you can ask your specific questions about the medications then.  My GYN wouldn’t ever call me in anything without examining me, I don’t know if that’s common practice, it’s a little inconvenient but I’d rather know for sure.

@MARIE901:  On a second note, clotrimazole vaginal (gyne-lotrimin) is cat. B.

Also I found nystatin vaginal tablet is cat A. but you have to treat for TWO WEEKS ack!

a tampon inserted with a diluted (50/50) of organic (braggs brand) apple cider vinegar and water will cure this.  do this instead. antibiotics and other suppostiories make it worse.  google it.

Monistat and Canesten are both safe in pregnancy.  Yeast during pregnancy can be tenacious, so it’s usually recomended to do the 7 day treatment of the vaginal cream, rather than the tablets or ovules.  You may need to do 2 weeks (rarely, but I’ve seen it happen).

You can also take probiotics orally and buy some probiotics for vaginal use; the idea being that over-populating healthy bacteria will crowd out the yeasties.

Vinegar or other acids will change the pH of the vagina (yeast thrives at higher pHs), but may or may not eradicate the problem for good.

@MARIE901:  Glad you are feeling better.  I went though that last week.  I was given flucozole 150 mg.   I’m better now.  What a relief!!  I think it was one of the worst ones I ever had.

Glad I am not the only one with a yeast infection while preggo! I had one about a month ago and I have had them in the past so I knew what it was and what works with my body to cure it. Monistat and vaginal creams do not work for me – so I asked the doctor to write me a script for the Fluconazole (sp) pill. You take it once and it should kill the yeast in 4 days. ๐Ÿ™‚
