I have yellow gold as well! Love it too. I like wearing yellow gold better in general so I thought why not get e-ring in yg. Plus, I think the diamond still looks pretty dard shiny.

I always wanted a yellow gold ring, just because both of my parents have it, and for some reason any ‘fine’ jewellery I have been given is all yellow gold!

This is my ring – I have loved it since before it was even mine.

@6598731ssfse3: Your solitaire is gorgeous! Are your prongs white gold/platinum (I can’t quite tell from the picture)? I’ve notice that this is a common style with yellow gold rings and I’m wondering if it’s for style or for function..

@kirabee: My yellow gold ring has platinum prongs for increased stabilty and security since platinum is stronger than gold.  It wasn’t for style at all.  Besides, it keeps the color of the diamond from being quite as influcenced by the yellow gold.  I’m not sure if others had the same advice from their jewlers but that was why mine is that way.

@kirabeeOops, sorry it took so long to respond! Yes, my prongs are white. Platinum is more durable than gold, as the previous poster mentioned. Yellow gold prongs cause the white stone to have a little yellow cast/tinge due to the contrast color reflection and also since there’s no contrast between the white prongs and the white stone it makes it brighter and bigger looking, which is always a plus. I love my yellow gold engagement ring…FH knew that I wanted yellow gold, because it looks best on my skin tone, and looks warmer and more romantic IMO. I have to admit some of the white gold rings I see tempt me, but that is just because there are SO MANY beautiful ring options out there!

My mother is a VERY SUPERSTITIOUS Cuban lady, and says that yellow gold is best because it brings good luck and fertility. Hope she is right! ๐Ÿ™‚

So I just HAD to share my ring too, lol! I’m Asian and we typically wear only yellow gold since culturally that’s the norm… plus it looks WAY better on my skin tone vs. white gold, not that white gold looks bad. Personally I think e-rings and rings in general stand out more when they’re yellow gold, and the higher the gold content the prettier it is! My e-ring is 18K yellow gold:
