I fell in love with a platinum ring but they only make rings in platinum… so i’m having it custom made in yellow gold!
I’m blonde and fair skinned and it just suits me so much more than the white metals.
Plus my mother’s and grandmother’s jewellery is yellow gold and one day when I own it I want it to all match!

I used to hate hate yellow gold but the past year or so I have been drawn towards it more. And I love rose gold! My ering is going to be mixed metals. its going to be white gold and rose gold. I think you should get whatever you want! Yellow gold is definately very in, maybe just not as popular right now to some people.

ItsDestiny whoa love your ring!
bunnyharriet thats going to look aamzing!
well i lean more towards white gold and dark colors, so im really thinking of just getting a white gold solitaire to go with my gold band. that way i can switch out the band sometimes?

I haven’t read any of the responses, so I’m sure this has been said before- yes, most people who got married 20+ years ago have yellow gold, and most people who get married now have white gold, BUT… it’s only a matter of time before the trend is flipped again. So just think, your kids might think that your ring is SUPER cool in 30 years! (and all of us with white gold will look like our rings are “dated!”)

That’s the boat I’m in too – I always match my metals to what colors I’m wearing and it just so happens my clothes mostly end up as dark/cool colors, which I guess suit my coloring more. Although I don’t think my skin looks any different wearing white metals vs. yellow/rose ones…
I don’t have my e-ring yet, but I am going with a white metal basically for the reason it goes with the majority of the colors I normally wear!
I have yellow gold too, and it’s funny because I have to figure out an outfit to coordinate when I want to wear yellow gold instead of white. Am I the only one? I can’t be!

Like others have said, yes, yellow gold is dated, but everything circles back around. Personally, white gold goes better with the clothing I tend to wear and I personally think it sets off my diamonds better than yellow does, but I’ll be the one who looks dated in 15 years. I am 100% against mixing metals (on myself) so that’s another reason I went with white gold.

I love yellow gold. It’s classic, not dated like many bees already said. I think that the white metals are pretty but I’m so light skinned they just blend in whereas the yellow complements my skin, for some it’s the other way around, everyone for their own.

I think metal is what you make of it – it isn’t the metal itself that is “old fashioned”, but they style in which it is fashioned!

Here is Sweden I would say that 98% wear yellow gold in their e-ring. I wouldn´t necessary say that Swedes are oldfashion .

squishee im totally like this!! but then again my current ering is in white gold so i guess i could switch them out idk yet. but i did get the solitaire in yellow gold. oh wells

Can I ask where your e-ring came from? I love yellow gold but have been having a hard time finding something that wasn’t just a plain solitaire that I like.

I agree with whoever said that many avant garde jewelry designers are using yellow and rose gold lately. And there is some amazing looking stuff out there right now.
My ering is white gold and I’ve actually been wondering how long it’s going to be before it’s out of “style.”

I dont think its old fashioned per se, its just not my style

Yes, I feel like it’s old-fashioned, but why is that a BAD thing? 🙂 Both my engagement ring and my wedding band (which are a matching set) are yellow gold even though they were both also available in white gold! I chose the yellow gold not only because I tend to love old-fashioned stuff but because I thought the rings looked better in the yellow gold! In fact, ALL my gold jewelry is yellow gold! I don’t own a single piece of white or rose gold jewelry!
