@Missus_LLC: I personally don’t like yellow gold, but that’s just me. Maybe your mom said it was dated just b/c you mostly see older women wear it. But I think if you prefer yellow gold then you should absolutely go for it! ๐

@starrynight: ITA. In 15-20 years white gold will be old-fashioned. All of us current brides-to-bee will be moms. My halo ring in wg will be completely vintage just like it was meant to be. But that’s OK. I look forward to seeing the jewerly trends that come along during that time and having my little piece of history on my finger.

Love all the opinions on this thread. I prefer white gold myself, probably because it’s currently in style and probably because white gold stands out on my skin colour as well. Yellow gold just blends in.
My husband gave me a cute solitaire ring in yellow gold before we were engaged. Since it wasn’t an engagement ring, I was fine with wearing yellow gold. I actually had a co-worker notice that me, the trend-lover, was wearing yellow gold. She was surprised! Anyway, we got engaged soo afterwards and now I wear a platinum/white gold set. I sold the yellow gold ring for a white gold pendant, which I would wear way more often.
But get what you want!!! It should be true to your taste! ๐

I actually think yellow gold is kinda tacky. Just my opinion though! To each her own! I do love rose gold though.

I personally really love yellow gold wedding and engagement rings with diamonds because I love the contrast. BuT I have olive skin and so it blends in too much and I prefer white metals with my skin but I wish it would look better to me so I could have a yellow gold set!
Most people would think it’s outdated because most people don’t wear it anymore but I personally think it’s classic, timeless and old fashioned (but in a good way *romantic*).

I definately don’t think it’s “old fashion”, I would classify it as “classic”.
If you wear more yellow gold (other than the ring), get that.. it’ll match better…. If you wear a lot of silver/ white gold, you’re likely better off with white gold….
Realistically, you’re wearing the ring forever…. not your family, and not any of the WB posters… YOU!
Do what makes you happy…. shurg off all the nay-sayers…

I don’t think yellow gold is old fashion, I think it all depends on your taste.

I’m not a fan of yellow gold, and especially not on me, but that’s personal; I don’t really consider it old fashioned. But, I think that white gold is currently much more popular, and that yellow gold could be seen as “old fashioned” because of that.

I had similar reservations, but on the opposite side of the opinion! I really wanted white gold but I was afraid it was maybe too trendy and it would look dated in 20 years. That’s when my mom pulled out my grandmother’s engagement ring from the turn of the century…which was white gold! So I guess you could make the argument that yellow gold is “newer.” I think that people tend to think that if something isn’t trending at the moment that it looks dated…but I disagree. At the end of the day you have two metals (white gold and yellow gold) that have been around forever and neither is a bad choice. Get what you love!

Love this post!!!! So I Always HATED yellow gold…….you will never guess what color my engagement ring is today….YELLOW gold and platinum. The problem was I fell in love with a Maevona setting – Eriskay. When I tried it on in the yellow gold I fell in love!! Now I love everything two tone! Originally I wanted them to try to change it so I didnt have to deal with the yellow gold. Here are some pictures of my ring. I have to send it in for a replacement – it is damaged and they are nicely replacing it for me free of charge. I have the opportunity to switch to Rose gold but am having such a hard time deciding because I have loved the look of the yellow gold on me and so does hubby (BTW he hates gold anything…especially home decorations or atwork with gold in it ha).
