I am getting this ring in yellow gold
But I am trying to decide if I want the prongs to be yellow or white gold. I would love to see pictures of both. If I get all yellow, you it effect the color of the moissanite?

I think that white gold would enhance your stone
My ring is a yellow gold flower shaped cluster with a white gold setting and prongs.
I think yellow gold prongs look nice with coloured gemstones, and moissys and diamonds look nice with white gold prongs.
I think it also may depend on the hue of your moissy, is it warm or cool toned?

I have a diamond in a yellow gold setting with white gold prongs. You can barely even tell that it is not yellow gold like the rest of my ring. I think that yellow gold prongs would probably make the diamond/moissy appear more yellow, but I’ve never seen anything with yellow gold prongs.

jewellers typically use white gold prongs even for yellow gold rings because i believe white gold is stronger.

@MissMfutureMrsB: I am not going to get my moissy enhanced, so it will be warm toned

@karissa_elaine: White gold, to me, definitely makes the stone stan out. I have a moissanite soliatire in yellow gold with white gold prongs and I love the look.

Yellow gold prongs look great. They do not make my G VS1 triple ex diamond look yellow.

First off, I’ll admit that I’m not as experienced with colorless stones as I am with colored gemstones. Also, I don’t have any pictures to help you compare, but I’m sure the other Bees will help. 🙂
I think it depends on how warm your moissy is, as well as how you feel about warmth in colorless stones. Do you want your stone to look as white as possible? Then go with the white gold prongs. But if it has a warmer glow, or if you aren’t concerned with it looking yellow (or both), opt for yellow gold.

I just got engaged yesterday and my ring is yellow gold with white gold prongs. I was SO conflicted on which way to go, and I think either way looks wonderful but I’m VERY happy I went with white gold prongs.
I kind of feel like the prongs pick up the yellow gold from the shank slightly, which makes it all blend well.
Good luck!!! 🙂
