I just got this F1 H&A. I had it customized with a white head and a yellow knife edge band.

Mine is yellow gold with platinum claws. I was told when I was designing it that they wouldn’t really consider having yellow gold claws because it’s a softer metal and I could lose my diamond, whereas platinum is harder so the risk is smaller. Also the platinum claws are more invisible against the diamond so the diamond stands out more.

view from the top, as you can see you can’t see too much of the claws. (Excuse my swollen morning fingers)

Yellow gold and white prongs go very well together

I think for a diamond platinum is best but for moissanite I didn’t care that much since a replacement cost wouldn’t be a big deal.  If it was diamond I probably would have used platinum.

But for some crazy reason I have yellow gold prongs on my diamond ring and never even thought to ask for platinum.

Not exactly a solitaire but a YG shank with a WG head

Mines not a solitaire but it’s a YG band with WG head.
My Fiance chose the ring, knowing I wanted YG. I don’t think he discussed with jeweller setting the stones in WG, and I was surprised to see they had done it that way.
It looks great though! The metals are blended seamlessly, doesn’t look contrasting at all in my opinion.
